CAQM reviews air pollution control measures across Delhi-NCR

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) reviewed enforcement actions, inspection findings and compliance status across the National Capital Region (NCR) at a meeting of its Enforcement Task Force. Between the 25th of September and the 10th of October, a total of 124 inspections were conducted, including six at construction and demolition sites, 54 in the industrial sector and 64 involving diesel generator sets.

Based on the reported violations, enforcement actions were proposed, including the closure of two construction and demolition projects and three industrial units, along with the sealing of 12 units across the industrial and diesel generator sectors. The Commission reiterated that inspections should preferably focus on industries in the Red and Orange categories, particularly those operating furnaces and boilers.

It also stressed the need for swift enforcement, strict compliance monitoring and continued inspections across priority sectors, including industrial units, construction and demolition activities, and diesel generator sets, to effectively control air pollution across the NCR.
