Canada Beat South Africa 1-0 in FIFA World Cup Knockout Stage

In the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup, Canada beat South Africa 1-0 for its first knockout match victory at Los Angeles in the United States. Stephen Eustáquio  of Canada scored the goal in the second minute of second-half stoppage time.
 
Co-host Canada hung on with strong defensive play in the final minutes and advanced to face the Netherlands or Morocco in Houston on Saturday, July 4. 
 
The 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout stage officially began today with 32 teams remaining after the group stage. This phase marks the start of the single-elimination tournament, which culminates in the FIFA World Cup Final on July 19, 2026.
