The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has written a letter to Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressing the deep anguish and resentment of the trading community across the country over the repeated disruption of commercial activities in Delhi due to political rallies, protests and demonstrations over the past month.
According to the letter, CAIT has questioned the Congress rally held on the 1st of this month and the continued support extended by the Congress and other political parties to demonstrations organised by various groups during this period.
The confederation said it would await Mr Gandhi’s response to the letter. However, immediately after Diwali, a crucial national-level meeting of traders from Delhi and prominent trade leaders from across the country will be convened in New Delhi to decide the future course of action.
CAIT has also announced that a nationwide Day of Condemnation will be observed over the issue. The date for the observance will be decided at the forthcoming national meeting in New Delhi.
Speaking to the media, CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said the confederation had raised five major questions in its letter to Mr Gandhi, seeking accountability for the losses incurred by traders.
