Cabinet expansion in Karnataka, 19 new ministers inducted

 
In Karnataka, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered oath of office to 19 legislators at a simple ceremony at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru today. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar who assumed office as Chief Minister on June 3rd along with 13 other ministers had a wait of around two months for the Cabinet expansion. The Cabinet size has now reached 33 members. The only woman legislator  announced by All India Congress Committee Gayathri Shanthegowda was  not sworn in today and another legislator Mankala Vaidya, was replaced by S S Mallikarjuna at the last moment.
 
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was conspicuous with his absence at the swearing in ceremony today. Reacting to a few legislators expressing disappointment for not making it to the Cabinet, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has said that it is not possible to accommodate everyone and assured them of opportunities in the future.
