This international observance, sanctioned by the United Nations and coordinated by the International Labour Organization, the ILO, serves as a powerful reminder that millions of children around the world are still being denied one of their most basic rights-the right to enjoy a safe childhood, receive an education, and pursue their dreams. Join us as we examine the realities of child labour, celebrate the progress that has been made, confront the challenges that remain, and discover how governments, communities, businesses, and individuals can work together to end this injustice once and for all. जब हम ‘बाल श्रम’ शब्द सुनते हैं, तो असल में इसका क्या मतलब होता है?
बच्चों के किए गए हर काम को बाल श्रम नहीं माना जाता। घर के हल्के-फुल्के कामों में मदद करना, सुरक्षित माहौल में पारिवारिक कारोबार में हाथ बंटाना या ऐसी गतिविधियों में शामिल होना जिनसे पढ़ाई में कोई रुकावट न आए, बच्चे के विकास में सकारात्मक भूमिका निभा सकता है। बाल श्रम का मतलब है ऐसा काम जो बच्चों के बचपन, उनकी क्षमता और उनकी गरिमा से उन्हें वंचित कर दे। यह ऐसा काम है जो बच्चों के लिए मानसिक, शारीरिक, सामाजिक या नैतिक रूप से खतरनाक और नुकसानदेह होता है। यह उनकी स्कूली शिक्षा में बाधा डालता है-चाहे उन्हें स्कूल जाने से रोककर, बीच में ही स्कूल छोड़ने पर मजबूर करके, या फिर स्कूल जाने के साथ-साथ बहुत ज़्यादा देर तक भारी काम करने के लिए बाध्य करके।
The worst forms of child labour include slavery, trafficking, forced labour, recruitment into armed conflict, commercial sexual exploitation, and hazardous work that threatens children’s health and safety. Imagine a child working in dangerous mines, handling harmful chemicals on farms, carrying heavy loads at construction sites, or spending endless hours selling goods on the streets instead of sitting in a classroom. For millions of children, this is not imagination. It is their daily reality.
‘बाल श्रम के विरुद्ध विश्व दिवस’ की शुरुआत इसलिए की गई थी ताकि बाल श्रम को हर तरह से खत्म करने की आवश्यकता पर दुनिया का ध्यान खींचा जा सके। यह दिन सरकारों, मज़दूर संगठनों, नियोक्ताओं, नागरिक समाज समूहों, शिक्षण संस्थानों, धार्मिक संगठनों और आम नागरिकों को एक साथ आने और बच्चों की सुरक्षा के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता को फिर से दोहराने का मौका देता है। यह दिन इसलिए महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि बाल श्रम सिर्फ़ एक आर्थिक मुद्दा नहीं है।
It is a human rights issue.
It is an education issue.
It is a development issue.
And above all, it is a moral issue.
Children belong in schools and playgrounds-not in factories, fields, mines, or hazardous workplaces.
Despite years of determined efforts, child labour remains a significant global challenge. According to current estimates, nearly 138 million children worldwide remain trapped in child labour. Even more alarming is the fact that more than 54 million children are engaged in hazardous work that threatens their safety, health, and development.

The 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, held in Marrakech, brought together governments, international organizations, employers, workers’ representatives, and civil society leaders. Participants reaffirmed the urgent need to accelerate efforts and transform promises into practical action. One of the major outcomes of the conference was the Marrakech Global Framework for Action against Child Labour.This framework provides a concrete roadmap for governments and stakeholders, outlining measurable indicators and integrated responses aimed at tackling the root causes of child labour while protecting the rights of every child.
The message from Marrakech was unmistakable:
The time for action is now.

2026 में अभियान एक दमदार नारे के साथ चलाया जा रहा है:
“बाल मज़दूरी को रेड कार्ड: बच्चों के लिए निष्पक्ष खेल, वयस्कों के लिए सम्मानजनक काम।”
खेलों से जुड़े लोग रेड कार्ड का महत्व समझते हैं।
रेड कार्ड का मतलब है कि गलत व्यवहार हुआ है और तुरंत कार्रवाई की ज़रूरत है। इस साल का अभियान दुनिया से बाल मज़दूरी को रेड कार्ड दिखाने का आग्रह करता है।
यह उन नीतियों पर मज़बूत कार्रवाई की मांग करता है जो बाल मज़दूरी को रोकती हैं और उन बच्चों की मदद करती हैं जिन्हें शोषण वाली स्थितियों से निकाला गया है।
इन नीतियों में शामिल हैं:
* सभी बच्चों के लिए अच्छी शिक्षा सुनिश्चित करना;
* सभी के लिए सामाजिक सुरक्षा प्रणालियों का विस्तार करना;
* वयस्कों के लिए सम्मानजनक काम और पर्याप्त आजीविका को बढ़ावा देना;

* कृषि प्रणालियों और वैश्विक आपूर्ति श्रृंखला में ज़िम्मेदार तौर-तरीकों को बढ़ावा देना।

माता-पिता शिक्षा को प्राथमिकता दे सकते हैं।
शिक्षक कमज़ोर या जोखिम वाले बच्चों की पहचान करके उन्हें मदद दे सकते हैं।
समुदाय के नेता जागरूकता बढ़ा सकते हैं।
कारोबार सही और नैतिक तरीके अपना सकते हैं।
युवा बदलाव लाने के लिए आवाज़ उठा सकते हैं।
ग्राहक सोच-समझकर फ़ैसले ले सकते हैं।
सरकारें बच्चों की सुरक्षा के लिए नीतियां बना सकती हैं और उन्हें लागू कर सकती हैं।
हममें से हर किसी के पास ऐसी दुनिया बनाने में योगदान देने की ताकत है, जहाँ बच्चों की अहमियत उनकी काबिलियत से हो-न कि उनसे मज़दूरी करवाकर उनका शोषण किया जाए।
As we mark the **World Day Against Child Labour 2026**, let us remember that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, play, and dream.

The “Yuva Sangam” jointly organized by IIM Kozhikode in Kerala, in collaboration with IIM Jammu as part of nation-wide youth exchange programme by the Central Government was notable for its organizational excellence and variety of programs. The Yuva Sangam was held from early June for a week, a report.
The Central Government is celebrating the Yuva Sangam to strengthen the bond between the youth of the Northeastern states and other states of the country and to uphold the concept of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The program, which focuses on ‘Tourism, Heritage, Progress, Technology and Interconnection’, adds more luster to the successful twelve years of the Narendra Modi government. As part of this, the Yuva Sangam organized at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode was noteworthy. 33 students from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Chhattisgarh participated. Out of these, 18 were female students and 15 were male students. The group reached the UNESCO city of literature – Kozhikode under the leadership of three teachers. This was the sixth phase of the Yuva Sangam organized as part of the Ministry of Education’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat campaign, a student exchange program. The students who set out on a 7-day Kerala tour were welcomed with a traditional Kerala welcome ceremony, Thalapoli. The students were introduced to various fascinating cultural and traditional aspects of God’s Own Country, which became a new experience for them. On June 1, the Yuva Sangam delegation was addressed by the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at IIM. IIM Kozhikode being the host institute has prepared a 5-day intensive travel program for the visiting delegates covering 5 benchmarked themes of Tourism, Traditions, Development, People-to-People Relationship and Technology. The youth delegates visited Thali Mahasiva Temple, Indian Spice Research Institute, Mavoor Backwaters, Ponpara Trekking Route, Regional Science Centre & Planetarium, Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, Sargalaya Arts & Crafts Village, National Institute of Technology, Water Resources Development and Management, Pookot Lake, Tea Plantation and Tea Factory in Wayanad, Banasura Sagar Dam, En Ooru, Nilambur – Bioreserve Nature Park, Teak Museum and Connolly Plot, Aadyanpara Waterfall, Tea & Honey Museum Visit, Enoor Tribal Heritage, Kappad Beach. In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the NTR District administration has launched the innovative We Too Time Bank also called as Youth Time Bank, a platform that enables volunteers to earn and save “time credits” by serving elderly citizens, patients and other needy individuals.
The Youth Time Bank, being implemented as a pilot project in Vijayawada, is aimed at creating a sustainable support system that benefits both youth and senior citizens. Under the Youth Time Bank model, volunteers deposit the hours they spend helping others. Services such as assisting patients in hospitals, purchasing medicines, paying bills, accompanying senior citizens, providing guidance and offering companionship are converted into time credits and credited to the volunteer’s account through a dedicated mobile application We Too Time Bank. Explaining the concept, NTR District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha said
“In Vijayawada city of NTR district, Andhra Pradesh, we started a concept called We Too Time Bank. It is also called Youth Time Bank. The main concept is youths who are willing to do social work will be helping the needy senior citizens or the patients or the whoever in need of the time and once they help the senior citizens, their time will be saved in the name of time credits in the bank, the online application which is there in the Play Store. So, this time saved now will be utilized at their discretion whenever they want. They themselves can use that time by taking the service of the others or they can donate the time and also they can encash this time in terms of money whenever they require it. So, this concept has started and now it is being implemented as a pilot in the Government Hospital Vijayawada.” The District Collector said the platform would ensure that elderly people do not have to depend on relatives or wait for support when they need help. Whether it is a visit to a hospital, a temple, a morning walk or simply companionship, volunteers can be deployed based on requests received through the application. JASPAL RANA INTERVIEW
Renowned Indian shooting coach and former Asian Games gold medallist Jaspal Rana has passed away. He was 49. According to National Rifle Association of India president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Rana breathed his last at a Delhi hospital last night. Rana recently underwent a medical procedure after falling ill during the Indian contingent’s return flight from the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany. Upon landing in New Delhi, he was immediately hospitalised and underwent a medical procedure to have a stent fixed.

तेलुगु भाषा के प्रख्यात कवि सी. नारायण रेड्डी की आज पुण्यतिथि है। ‘ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित श्री रेड्डी ने पांच दशकों से अधिक समय तक काव्य रचना की। पद्म श्री और पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित श्री रेड्डी ने कविता, गीत, संगीत, नाटक, नृत्य-नाट्य, निबंध, यात्रा संस्मरण, साहित्यालोचन और गजल का सृजन किया। सी. नारायन रेड्डी ने फिल्मों में भी काफ़ी नाम कमाया। 1962 में उन्होंने फ़िल्मों में गाने लिखना शुरू किया। तेलुगु सिनेमा में 3 हजार से अधिक फिल्मी गाने लिखे थे। पहली फ़िल्म मिली ‘गुलेबकावली कथा’। इस फ़िल्म के साथ ही वह मशहूर हो गए। उन्होंने सैयद रफी निर्देशित फिल्म ‘इन्केन्नल्लू’ (2011) के लिए अपना आखिरी फिल्मी गीत लिखा था। आइए सुनते हैं इस फिल्म का एक गीत-

लोकप्रिय मराठी लेखक, नाटककार, हास्यकार, अभिनेता, कथाकार और पटकथाकार, फिल्म निर्देशक, संगीतकार और गायक पुरुषोत्तम लक्ष्मण देशपांडे की आज पुण्यतिथि है। वे दूरदर्शन से इसकी स्थापना के समय से ही जुड़े रहे थे। पी.एल. देशपांडे को ‘पुल’ देशपांडे के नाम से भी जाना जाता था। पुरुषोत्तम लक्ष्मण देशपांडे ऐसे शख्स थे, जिन्होंने देश के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू का इंटरव्यू लिया था। उन्हें पद्मश्री, पद्म भूषण, साहित्य अकादमी, संगीत नाटक अकादमी सम्मान, महाराष्ट्र भूषण सम्मान, कालिदास सम्मान आदि से नवाजा गया।

आज जयंती है छत्तीसगढ़ की प्रसिद्ध लोकगीत भरतरी गायिका सुरुज बाई खांडे की। उन्हें 1986-1987 में सोवियत रूस में हुए ‘भारत महोत्सव’ का हिस्सा बनने का मौका मिला था। छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार से उन्हें ‘दाऊ रामचंद्र देशमुख’ और ‘स्व. देवदास बंजारे स्मृति पुरस्कार’ भी मिला। इन्हें सबसे पहले रतनपुर मेले में गायन का मौका मिला। इसके बाद ‘मध्य प्रदेश आदिवासी लोक कला परिषद’ ने उनके इस हुनर को पहचाना और उन्हें 1986-1987 में सोवियत रूस में हुए ‘भारत महोत्सव’ का हिस्सा बनने का मौका मिला। आइए सुनते हैं उनकी गायिकी का एक अंश….

आज भारत के मेट्रो मैन ई. श्रीधरन का जन्मदिन है। अगर आप भी मेट्रो शहर में रहते हैं, तो मेट्रो की यात्रा जरूर की होगी जो भाग दौड़ भरी इस जिंदगी में आरामदायक और किफायती यात्रा सेवा उपलब्ध कराती है। श्रीधरन भारत के प्रसिद्ध सिविल इंजीनियर हैं। कोंकण रेलवे और दिल्ली में मेट्रो रेल का श्रेय इन्हीं को जाता है। भारत की पहली मेट्रो सेवा कोलकाता मेट्रो की योजना भी उन्हीं की देन है। वे 1995 से 2012 तक दिल्ली मेट्रो के निदेशक रहे। ई श्रीधरन ने बहुत कम समय के भीतर दिल्ली मेट्रो के निर्माण का कार्य किसी सपने की तरह बेहद कुशलता और श्रेष्ठता के साथ पूरा कर दिखाया। 1963 में रामेश्वरम और तमिलनाडु को आपस में जोड़ने वाला पम्बन पुल टूट गया था। रेलवे ने उसके पुननिर्माण के लिए छह महीने का लक्ष्य तय किया, लेकिन उस क्षेत्र के इंजार्च ने यह अवधि तीन महीने कर दी और जिम्मेदारी श्रीधरन को सौंपी गई। श्रीधरन ने मात्र 45 दिनों के भीतर काम करके दिखा दिया। भारत सरकार ने उन्हें 2001 में ‘पद्म श्री’ और 2008 में ‘पद्म विभूषण’ से सम्मानित किया है। इसके अतिरिक्त और भी कई पुरस्कार अपने नाम कर चुके हैं।

गीतांजलि श्री की पहली कहानी बेलपत्र 1987 में हंस में प्रकाशित हुई थी। इसके बाद उनकी दो और कहानियाँ एक के बाद एक ‘हंस’ में छपीं।
