Today we’re talking about a very important initiative by the Government of India – the Vibrant Villages Programme. Union Home Minister Amit Shah today visited the Sanchu Border Outpost along the India-Pakistan international border in Rajasthan. He interacted with Border Security Force personnel deployed in the area and lauded their dedication in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
अपनी यात्रा के दौरान, गृह मंत्री ने राज्य के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों को ‘वाइब्रेंट विलेजेज़ प्रोग्राम-2′ समर्पित किया। इस पहल के तहत, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा पर स्थित गाँवों में शिक्षा, सड़कों, बिजली और रोज़गार के अवसरों सहित बुनियादी ढाँचे और आवश्यक सुविधाओं को मज़बूत किया जाएगा। इस कार्यक्रम में बाड़मेर, बीकानेर और जैसलमेर ज़िलों के गाँवों को शामिल किया गया है।
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present on the occasion. Senior officials including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Deka and Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas attended the programme.
केंद्र सरकार ने 2 अप्रैल, 2025 को ‘वाइब्रेंट विलेजेज प्रोग्राम-II’ (VVP-II) को एक केंद्रीय क्षेत्र योजना के रूप में मंज़ूरी दे दी है। इस योजना के तहत, वित्तीय वर्ष 2028-29 तक कुल 6839 करोड़ रुपये का परिव्यय निर्धारित किया गया है। इसका उद्देश्य उन चुनिंदा रणनीतिक गाँवों का व्यापक विकास करना है जो अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भूमि सीमाओं (ILB) से सटे ब्लॉकों में स्थित हैं। इन राज्यों में अरुणाचल प्रदेश, असम, बिहार, गुजरात, जम्मू–कश्मीर, लद्दाख, मणिपुर, मेघालय, मिज़ोरम, नागालैंड, पंजाब, राजस्थान, सिक्किम, त्रिपुरा, उत्तराखंड, उत्तर प्रदेश और पश्चिम बंगाल शामिल हैं; हालाँकि, उत्तरी सीमा क्षेत्र (Northern border) को इस योजना से बाहर रखा गया है, क्योंकि वह पहले से ही VVP-I के अंतर्गत कवर किया जा चुका है।

That’s a very important goal. Many remote villages face challenges due to lack of facilities and employment opportunities. And that’s why this programme focuses on creating sustainable livelihoods.

That’s huge! But lets put a spotlight on- what exactly is the purpose of Vibrant Villages Programme-II?

Villages in states and Union Territories like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Punjab, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and many more will benefit.

In fact, the programme encourages villagers to become the “eyes and ears” of border guarding forces. That’s a very strong message of people’s participation.

Precisely! And there’s another interesting aspect – the programme is village-specific and border-specific. Meaning every village will have its own Village Action Plan, prepared collaboratively according to local needs. That’s smart planning! One-size-fits-all never works in diverse regions.

So these villages won’t remain isolated anymore. In fact, the government also wants to make these villages culturally vibrant.

By organizing fairs, festivals, awareness camps, celebrations of national days, and even encouraging Ministers and senior officials to visit and stay overnight in these villages.

The Government has debunked an email circulating online falsely claiming to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Fact Check unit of the Press Information Bureau said that the fake email asked people to pay a crediting fee under a Donation Program 2026 or compensation payment for winning the lottery scheme or inheritance fund. It added that the email is fake and a phishing attempt to trick people into losing their money. The Unit also clarified that neither the RBI has issued any such email nor is it running any such donation program or compensation payment for winning the lottery or any other fund or scheme.
