खैर, हम सभी जानते हैं कि हमारी पसंदीदा कॉटन शर्ट या कॉटन कुर्ती की यात्रा किसी शॉपिंग मॉल से शुरू नहीं होती। यहाँ तक कि किसी फ़ैक्टरी से भी नहीं। बल्कि, इसकी शुरुआत भारत की मिट्टी से होती है। और आज, यह यात्रा कुछ इस तरह से बदल रही है, जो दुनिया के भारत के कॉटन को देखने के नज़रिए को पूरी तरह से बदल सकती है।
So let’s discuss about something worth paying attention to- because it connects the lives of farmers, workers, exporters, and all of us. The Government of India has launched a 5 thousand 659 crore rupees Mission for Cotton Productivity, aimed at making India self-reliant in cotton and globally competitive by 2030-31. But the question is- Why cotton?

The reason lies in the challenges we’ve been facing- such as falling productivity, pest attacks, and concerns around quality. And rather than letting these issues grow, India is choosing to confront them with intent.

The Mission will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Ministry of Textiles, involving 10 institutes of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, one institute of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, and 10 centres of All India Coordinated Research Project on Cotton operating in different State Agricultural Universities of major cotton growing states.
शुरुआत में, 14 राज्यों के 140 ज़िलों पर ध्यान दिया जाएगा। इसके लिए राज्य कृषि विभाग और ICAR की मदद से टेक्नोलॉजी को बड़े पैमाने पर लागू किया जाएगा और 2000 जिनिंग/प्रोसेसिंग फैक्ट्रियां स्थापित की जाएंगी। अब, यहाँ एक ऐसा ज़बरदस्त विज़न है जिस पर गौर करना चाहिए-भारत का लक्ष्य कपास की उत्पादकता को 440 किलोग्राम प्रति हेक्टेयर से बढ़ाकर 755 किलोग्राम प्रति हेक्टेयर तक पहुँचाना है। यह कोई छोटी-मोटी छलांग नहीं है। यह एक बड़ा बदलाव है। और उत्पादन के 498 लाख गांठों तक पहुँचने की उम्मीद है। यह कपास के क्षेत्र में सच्ची आत्मनिर्भरता की दिशा में एक स्पष्ट कदम है।

Turning rural youth into skilled professionals was the focus of a major regional summit in Panaji. With states coming together to refine training and placement, we have a report on the latest push for rural employment.
A two-day regional workshop concluded yesterday in Goa, focusing on the second phase of two major national initiatives: the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana and Rural Self Employment Training Institutes. These programs, known as DDU-GKY and RSETI, are designed to bridge the gap between rural talent and the modern job market. DDU-GKY acts as a placement-linked training scheme where youth learn specific trades for corporate jobs, while RSETI focuses on creating entrepreneurs through district-level training centers. Representatives from eight states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, met to coordinate action plans and improve training quality. Rajya Sabha Member Sadanand Tanawade emphasized that strong cooperation between government and industry is vital for rural development. Officials also reviewed the Management Information System, or MIS, which is the digital platform used to track student progress and financial management. The fourth day of the Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha in the Union Territory of Ladakh was marked by a vibrant cultural evening showcasing a diverse range of performances from across the country along with local artistic traditions. The event is being organised by the Administration of UT Ladakh in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, and is scheduled to continue till May 13, 2026. The last evening commenced with a welcome and introductory address, followed by a presentation on Lharna, highlighting aspects of Ladakh’s cultural heritage. The programme then featured a performance by Gya Meru artists presenting the traditional Chabs-Skyabs song and dance. Cultural troupes from Odisha and Gujarat presented a series of performances, reflecting the rich diversity of regional dance and music traditions. The performances were interspersed through the evening, ensuring a balanced and engaging programme flow.
The LACS Cultural Group presented the Spao dance, adding a distinct local cultural element to the evening. A Ladakhi folk song performances by local artists were among the highlights, receiving an appreciative response from the audience. The cultural evenings, being held daily as part of the exposition, continue to attract participation from residents, visitors, tourists and officials, reflecting the blend of spiritual significance and cultural outreach associated with the Sacred Relics Exposition. हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री नायब सिंह सैनी ने कहा कि सरकारी अस्पतालों में डेंगू रोगियों के लिए निशुल्क सिंगल डोनर प्लेटलेट्स की शुरुआत करने वाला हरियाणा उत्तरी क्षेत्र में पहला राज्य बन गया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि आज विज्ञान ने अद्भुत प्रगति कर ली है। हम अंतरिक्ष तक पहुंच गए हैं और नई नई तकनीकों का आविष्कार कर रहे हैं लेकिन आज भी रक्त का कोई कृत्रिम विकल्प उपलब्ध नहीं है। इसका अर्थ यह है कि एक इंसान ही दूसरे इंसान के जीवन का सहारा बन सकता है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि आज रक्त की आवश्यकता तेजी से बढ़ी है, चाहे वह किसी दुर्घटना का शिकार व्यक्ति हो, कैंसर से जूझ रहा मरीज, सर्जरी से गुजर रहा कोई व्यक्ति हो या फिर थैलेसेमिया और हिमोफीलिया जैसे रोगों से पीड़ित बच्चे इन सभी के लिए रक्त जीवन का आधार है। आंकड़े बताते हैं कि हमारे देश में हर दो सेकंड में किसी ना किसी व्यक्ति को रक्त की जरूरत पड़ती है और अस्पताल में भर्ती हर 10 में से एक मरीज को खून की जरूरत होती है। यह गंभीर स्थिति है जो हम सभी से सामूहिक प्रयास की मांग करती है। मुख्यमंत्री ने बताया कि प्रदेश में कुल 154 रक्त केंद्र हैं। सरकार ने पिछले वर्ष तय लक्ष्य 3 लाख 30 हजार यूनिट्स रक्त से बढ़ कर 4 लाख 50 हजार यूनिट से भी अधिक रक्त एकत्रित किया है। केंद्र सरकार से हरियाणा काे वर्ष में उत्कृष्टता के लिए लगातार दूसरे वर्ष 2024-25 में सबसे अधिक रक्तदान हेतु रक्तदान में पुरस्कार भी मिला है। परिक्रमा के लिए चंडीगढ़ से अश्विनी कुमार शर्मा

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS News Delhi has distributed artificial intelligence enabled smart vision glasses to 40 visually impaired individuals, enabling them to interpret their surroundings through sound. Each glass costs around 35 thousand rupees and was provided free of cost under CSR initiative at a function held at Dr R P Centre of Ophthalmic Sciences. More from our correspondent
These AI-enabled glasses convert visual information into spoken term and also identify objects, recognise faces, detect obstacles and assist with navigation. The device helps visually impaired persons manage their daily tasks independently from identifying currency notes to locating doorways. Dr Praveen Vashist, In-Charge Community Ophthalmology said that AIIMS has planned to distribute around one thousand 700 such AI enabled glasses to the persons with low visibility already identified from Delhi-NCR schools. He said, such glasses will help them know about their surroundings so that they can lead a normal life. Sharing his experience with Akashvani News, a beneficiary hailed AIIMS’ initiative for providing the smart vision glases, saying that it will be helpful for them in their life.
Earlier, AIIMS had distributed 53 smart vision glasses to such individuals and these smart glasses will help them perform their daily routine tasks easily. With Anand Kumar, Bhanu Pratap Singh, Akashvani News, Delhi.
