Divinity resides where women are honoured. In the morning, I read it in the newspapers today about Australia getting its first woman army chief and the country joined a very short global list along with Canada and Slovenia.
Over the past decade, India has also done something few nations have achieved at scale: it has moved women’s empowerment from intent to infrastructure. This shift did not happen organically; it was designed. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, policy has placed women at the centre of development recognising that when women move forward, entire economy accelerates.
India’s women have demonstrated time and again that they are more than ready for leadership. Rightly said by our Prime Minister “Women are not just homemakers; they are nation-builders,” And India is actively shifting towards women-led development.

Eminent scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar has said that India should not imitate other nations, but move ahead and lead them through innovation. Dr. Mashelkar was speaking after being conferred the Gomant Gaurav Award by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant at a function held at Kala Academy in Panaji.
Dr. Mashelkar stressed that science must be used to simplify the lives of common people. The event was jointly organised by the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and World Peace University. Dr. Mashelkar dedicated the award to his mother, Anjani Mashelkar.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sawant said a healthcare mechanism developed by Dr. Mashelkar will soon be implemented in Goa. In a major step towards strengthening urban governance through digital transformation, the Government of Odisha has successfully implemented the Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System.
The Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System or OSWAS is implemented by the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department of Odisha government across five municipal corporations, 48 municipalities, and 62 notified area councils in the state. OSWAS enables end-to-end digital management of official files at the urban local bodies. The digital platform ensures real-time tracking, role-based routing, and time-bound decision-making, significantly enhancing administrative efficiency and accountability across municipal corporations, municipalities and notified area councils. The statewide rollout is aimed at improving efficiency, accountability and transparency in municipal administration. One of the defining features of OSWAS is its ability to provide real-time dashboards for monitoring file movement and pendency, empowering officials at both urban local bodies and state levels with actionable insights. The implementation of the platform is not only reducing administrative delays but also strengthening the supervisory oversight and improving inter-departmental coordination. By bringing transparency, speed, and accountability into everyday administration, the state government is empowering urban local bodies to deliver better and faster services to citizens. OSWAS is also helping the local bodies in the urban areas to become more responsive, efficient, and citizen-centric. With OSWAS now fully operational across all the 115 urban local bodies, Odisha has set a benchmark in leveraging technology for governance reform. The initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing the State’s vision of Viksit Odisha, by fostering transparency, improving service delivery, and strengthening the foundations of urban administration in the years to come. The P4 Programme of the Andhra Pradesh Government is emerging as a strong model for building a poverty-free society, with Visakhapatnam district setting an inspiring example.
The initiative is being implemented through the Swarna Andhra P4 Foundation to ensure inclusive growth through a Public-Private-People Partnership approach. The programme focuses on identifying underprivileged families and connecting them with mentors, resources, and opportunities for sustainable development. In Visakhapatnam district alone, over 66,000 families have already been adopted under this initiative, supported by more than 7,500 volunteers who are working as guides and facilitators in transforming lives. The impact of the programme is clearly visible on the ground. Families that once struggled with limited access to healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities are now witnessing meaningful improvements. Better medical facilities, skill development programmes, and access to basic infrastructure are helping people move towards self-reliance and dignity. The state government’s structured approach, combined with active coordination by district officials, has ensured that the benefits reach the right people. The initiative has also encouraged social responsibility among citizens, creating a collective effort towards poverty eradication.
At a recent annual event held in Visakhapatnam, individuals who demonstrated exceptional commitment to social service were recognised, reflecting the growing public participation in the programme. Officials highlighted that identifying and supporting every poor family remains a key goal, and efforts are continuing to expand the programme further.
Speaking on the occasion, district in-charge minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy stated that the large number of volunteers coming forward is a matter of pride, and that such collective participation is essential to achieve complete poverty eradication. The success of the P4 programme in Visakhapatnam demonstrates how focused governance, community participation, and effective implementation can bring real and lasting change. The Haj pilgrimage from India for the year 2026 is set to commence tomorrow, with the first batch of pilgrims scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia from various embarkation points across the country. He is considered one of the pioneers of modern Malayalam literature, often referred to by his place of birth, “Thakazhi”. Pillai, whose works would later earn him the moniker, Kerala Maupassant. This celebrated Indian novelist and short story writer in Malayalam literature, renowned for depicting the lives of oppressed classes and coastal communities. A winner of the Jnanpith Award (1984) and Padma Bhushan (1985), he is best known for his masterpieces Chemmeen (1965) and Kayar (1980).
