Now, time for our segment Dateline India, in which we take a look at the developments taking place at the national or global level. Today, we will talk on two topics: TRIBUTE TO LEGENDARY SINGER ASHA BHONSLE.

Today, the world of music has fallen silent… as we bid farewell to a voice that defined generations. Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is no longer with us. At the age of 92, she leaves behind not just memories… but melodies that will echo forever.

She was admitted to a private hospital yesterday evening due to a chest infection and exhaustion. Her last rites will be held tomorrow at 4:00 PM at Shivaji Park.

From romantic whispers to electrifying cabaret numbers… from ghazals dripping with emotion to peppy beats that made India groove-she could do it all. Versatility was her strength… her identity.

Her voice became the soul of countless heroines- From Meena Kumari and Madhubala… to Zeenat Aman… and later Kajol and Urmila Matondkar. She was timeless-flowing effortlessly across generations.

Each song… a memory. Each note… a heartbeat. Each lyric… brought alive by her voice. And today… as we say goodbye… it doesn’t feel like an end. Because legends like Asha Bhosle… never really leave us. They stay… in the songs we hum, In the moments we cherish, In the silence that suddenly feels musical.

Be it a soft romantic melody, a soulful ghazal, or a lively, playful number-her voice carried a range that felt almost limitless.

She didn’t just sing songs-she gave voice to emotions that were fearless, expressive, and alive.

And over time, that spirit earned her a special place-As the bold voice of her era. Her partnership with R D Burman redefined Hindi film music in the 1960s and 70s.

In the 2000s, and beyond, Asha introduced herself to the younger generation, and the audience met her through her voice in remixes of some of the all-time classics. She was also one of the only singers from the golden era of Hindi film music who continued to perform into her 80s.

Tributes are pouring in following the passing of the legendary singer. Personalities from Political arena to the film and music world are expressing grief over her demise.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan have expressed sadness over the demise of Legendary singer.

Singer Shankar Mahadevan has said, Asha Bhosle’s voice will live forever

Singer Usha Uthup has also expressed grief on the demise of he friend Asha Bhonsle

Actor Raza MURAD ALSO SPEAKS ABOUT THE GREAT SINGER

As we come to the end of today’s dateline segment, we pause to remember a voice that has defined generations… Asha Bhosle ji—an artist whose songs were not just melodies, but emotions that lived with us through every phase of life.

From soulful ghazals to peppy chartbusters, her versatility knew no bounds. She didn’t just sing songs—she gave them life, color, and timeless meaning.
