Today, we’re talking about a powerful force driving India’s growth-Nari Shakti, the strength and empowerment of women. India’s development journey is deeply connected with how empowered its women are. When women rise, families prosper, communities grow stronger, and the nation moves forward. Recognizing this, the central government has placed women’s empowerment at the heart of its agenda.
लेकिन यह समझना ज़रूरी है कि सशक्तिकरण सिर्फ़ एक बार का प्रयास नहीं है। भारत की आबादी में महिलाओं की हिस्सेदारी लगभग आधी है, फिर भी संसद और राज्य विधानसभाओं में उनकी मौजूदगी काफ़ी कम है। उनकी भागीदारी बढ़ाने से नए नज़रिए और ज़्यादा समावेशी नीति-निर्माण सामने आ सकते हैं।
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that reservation for women in legislative bodies is the need of the hour to make Indian democracy more vibrant and participative. Expressing his thoughts in an Op-Ed, Mr Modi said that any delay in bringing this reservation will be deeply unfortunate. He said that Parliament has been convened on 16th of this month to discuss and pass an important bill that advances women’s reservation.
Prime Minister Modi said that it is imperative that the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly elections to the various states in the coming times are conducted with women’s reservation in place. He said, over the decades, there have been repeated efforts to provide women with their rightful place in democratic institutions by the previous governments.

Prime Minister said that the women constitute nearly half of India’s population and their contributions to the nation are vast and invaluable. In his Op-Ed, Mr Modi said that the reservation for women in legislative bodies is a reflection of the aspirations of crores of women across India and affirmation of the principle, that society progresses when women progress.
महिलाओं के योगदान को रेखांकित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि देश की प्रगति के हर क्षेत्र में महिलाएं सबसे आगे हैं-विज्ञान और तकनीक से लेकर उद्यमिता तक, खेल से लेकर सशस्त्र बलों तक, और संगीत से लेकर कला तक। उन्होंने कहा कि जब महिलाएं प्रशासन और निर्णय-निर्माण में हिस्सा लेती हैं, तो वे अपने साथ ऐसे अनुभव लाती हैं जो शासन की गुणवत्ता में सुधार लाते हैं।

On Women’s Reservation Bill, Nari Shakti awardee Vimala said that this is an extremely important initiative. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made consistent efforts with a focus on women’s dignity and respect since he assumed office. Ms Vimala said that this initiative has reached the stage of political empowerment, marking an important step towards ensuring women’s participation from home to Parliament.

Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi inaugrated the 8th edition of Poshan Pakhwada – 2026 in New Delhi today. The theme for Poshan Pakhwada is – Maximizing brain development in the first six years of life. This recognise that early childhood, particularly the first one thousand days, is critical for brain development, physical growth, and overall well-being. Scientific evidence indicates that over 85 per cent of brain development occurs by the age of six, underscoring the importance of optimal nutrition, responsive caregiving, and early learning.
During the Pakhwada, activities will be organized across States and Union Territories through Anganwadi Centers, with participation from mothers, caregivers, families, community institutions, and local bodies.

Polling for the Assembly elections is progressing in Keralam. The state is on the way to make voting process greener and more environmentally responsible. Extensive arrangements have been made across Keralam to strictly implement the Green Protocol at polling stations and distribution centres. The use of single use plastic has been completely avoided, with steel utensils and glassware being introduced instead. Kudumbashree units are actively supporting these efforts in several districts, while common drinking water facilities have also been arranged. Special attention is being given to waste management as well. Separate bins have been installed at each polling booth for waste segregation, and the services of Haritha Karma Sena are being utilised to ensure scientific disposal. Cleanliness at polling centres and surrounding areas is also being closely monitored under the guidance of election authorities and the Suchitwa Mission.
Awareness campaigns were carried out across districts in Keralam to promote both voter participation and adherence to green norms. Over the past three weeks, initiatives like the ‘Green Button’ campaign have been encouraging people to adopt eco friendly practices during the election process. Several districts have introduced innovative measures. In Ernakulam, eco friendly mobile phone pouches made from old clothes are being distributed to voters. In Wayanad, cloth banners are being used to spread environmental awareness, while Palakkad has organised rallies as part of its campaign. In Thiruvananthapuram, green facilitation centres have been set up in all constituencies to ensure compliance with the protocol. Model green polling booths have also been prepared across districts, with Kannur introduced specially themed eco friendly booths. Green cafes led by Kudumbashree units are functioning in various locations, and enforcement squads have been deployed to monitor compliance. Authorities have already conducted thousands of inspections and imposed fines for violations of the Green Protocol. Officials say the aim is to make the election process a model of scientific waste management, environmental protection, and public participation. The nation is remembering the valour and supreme sacrifice of security forces today as Shaurya Diwas is being observed at Sardar Post in the border district of Kutch in Gujarat. The day commemorates the extraordinary bravery displayed by CRPF personnel during the 1965 India-Pakistan conflict.
Shaurya Diwas is observed every year on April 9 to commemorate the exceptional courage and bravery displayed by security forces during the 1965 India-Pakistan conflict. On this occasion, senior officials and personnel of the CRPF will pay homage to the martyrs with a Guard of Honour, while tributes will also be offered through a band performance. It may be recalled that in April 1965, Pakistan attempted to capture Indian border areas under ‘Operation Desert Hawk’. At that time, CRPF units were deployed at Sardar and Tak Posts in the Rann of Kutch. On the morning of April 9, an infantry brigade of around 3,500 Pakistani soldiers launched a sudden attack on these posts. The CRPF personnel displayed exemplary courage and gallantry, successfully repulsing the attack and forcing the enemy to retreat. In the operation, 34 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 4 were captured alive. In this brave engagement, seven CRPF personnel made the supreme sacrifice. Despite being a small contingent, they held off a much larger enemy force for nearly 15 hours, an achievement considered remarkable in military history. Ashraf Nathvani, Akashvani News Bhuj.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Jammu Smart City Limited is preparing for the Swachh Tawi Mahotsav, a major celebration of local heritage and environmental care. The Mahotsav would be a three-day event starting on April 14 till April 16 at the 4th Tawi Bridge to mark Baisakhi. Organized with the coordination of Departments of Tourism and Information, the festival shall take place on the left bank of the Tawi riverfront, which will be fully open to the public. The festival aims to highlight JMC’s ongoing work to make Jammu a cleaner and more culturally active city under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0. The festival offers a variety of activities for the public, including the Tawi Aarti and boating on the riverfront.
