Now we go love to Election Commission’s Press conference taking place right now- (Live EC PRESS CONFERENCE)

And now, time to take for our segment Dateline India, in which we take a look at the developments taking place at the national or global level. Today we will talk about World Habitat Day

World Habitat Day -6 October

World Habitat Day is marked on the first Monday of October each year and is recognized by the United Nations to reflect on the state of towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter.

As cities expand, they face increasing challenges in providing infrastructure and essential services such as adequate housing, water, sanitation, education, security, and jobs. Climate change impacts cities and vulnerable youth through:

⦁ More frequent extreme weather events
⦁ Food and water insecurity
⦁ Escalation of climate-related health issues
⦁ Displacement due to extreme weather events
⦁ Psychological impacts and climate anxiety.

The day highlights sustainable, scalable, and transformative solutions to urban displacement that help stabilize populations, while promoting prosperity and fostering social cohesion for all.

UN Secretary-General- António Guterres in his Message said :
” In our rapidly urbanising world, cities often shoulder the impacts of today’s crises. Conflict, political instability, and the climate emergency have forced 123 million people from their homes – most seeking safety in cities and towns already under pressure.

About one in eight people live in informal settlements, and more than 300 million have no home at all. Health services, water systems, and transport networks are stretched, while the risks of new disasters loom.

Yet cities are where solutions can take root and grow. When we plan for inclusion, newcomers help to drive economies, strengthen communities, and enrich culture.

In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department is all set to get a one-time package of 2 thousand crore Rupees from Union Ministry of Education for filling infrastructural gaps in schools besides fulfilling parameters of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.

The funds will be granted under Samagra Shiksha to be utilised in the next five years. The first priority will be to fulfil NEP parameters and fill infrastructural gaps in schools across the Union Territory. A Report –

The special package will be granted at a time when the government schools across J&K are facing acute dearth of infrastructure. The Union Ministry of Education has decided to refurbish around 396 border schools including 196 in Jammu region and 200 in Kashmir division and for complete revamp and new infrastructure. The schools will be renamed as vibrant schools and will get special funding like that of PM Shri schools. 60 schools identified in minority community areas will also get special funding for complete revamp of infrastructure as well. Also, 60 schools have been identified in convergence with the Social Welfare Department. The government has planned to appoint one Urdu teacher each in KGBVs in Urdu dominated areas. Also, two Aayas will be recruited on 10th or 12th qualification basis in pre-primary schools as well. Meanwhile, a high level delegation of 40 members led by Union Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Sanjay Kumar visited Kashmir last week to take a detailed review of the School Education Department. Sanjay Kumar chaired a detailed review meeting of the School education sector at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar and expressed concern over the comparatively low enrolment in government schools across the Union Territory as against private institutions and directed officers to take measures to make government schools the “prime centres of learning and career development.”

Meghnad Saha (6 October 1893 – 16 February 1956) was an Indian astrophysicist and politician who helped devise the theory of thermal ionisation. His Saha ionisation equation allowed astronomers to accurately relate the spectral classes of stars to their actual temperatures.[1][2][3]

Meghnad Saha was born on 6 October 1893 in a Teli-caste Bengali Hindu family in the village of Sheoratali in Gazipur, then part of the Dacca district of the Bengal Presidency (now Bangladesh).[4][5] He was the fifth of eight children born to Jagannath Saha, a poor shopkeeper, and his wife, Bhubaneshwari Devi.[6] Due to the superstitious religious ideologies of the orthodox haughty Brahmins of the time and his childhood and career experiences of casteism, Saha developed a hatred for Hinduism from a young age.[7]

During his youth, he was forced to leave Dhaka Collegiate School because he participated in the Swadeshi movement.[8] After that he joined K. L. Jubilee High School & College. He earned his Indian School Certificate from Dhaka College.[8] He was also a student at the Presidency College, Kolkata and Rajabazar Science College CU. Saha faced discrimination from other students due to his caste; when he was at the Eden Hindu Hostel, communal students objected to him eating in the same dining hall as them.[1][9]

He was a professor at Allahabad University from 1923 to 1938, and thereafter a professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Calcutta until his death in 1956. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1927.[10] He was president of the 21st session of the Indian Science Congress in 1934.[11]

Amongst Saha’s classmates were Satyendra Nath Bose, Jnan Ghosh and Jnanendra Nath Mukherjee. In his later life, he was close to Amiya Charan Banerjee.

Vinod Khanna (6 October 1946 – 27 April 2017) was an Indian actor, film producer, and politician known for his work in Hindi cinema. [1] He is regarded as one of the greatest actors of Hindi cinema.[2] Recognised as a style and fashion icon, he was often referred to as the “Sexy Sanyasi” in the media, as well a sex symbol.[3] In 2018, he was posthumously honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award,[4] India’s highest cinematic award, at the 65th National Film Awards. Beyond his film career, Khanna was also a spiritual seeker[5] and a notable political figure, serving as a Member of Parliament from the Gurdaspur constituency between 1998–2009 and 2014–2017.[6] He held ministerial positions in the Government of India, including Minister for Culture and Tourism and Minister of State for External Affairs under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.[7]

Khanna made his film debut in 1968 and initially appeared in supporting and antagonistic roles. He portrayed an angry young man in the social drama Mere Apne (1971),[8] the main villain in the action drama Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971),[9][10] and a military officer turned fugitive in the crime drama Achanak (1973).[11][12] Khanna rose to stardom in the mid-1970s with a series of successful films, including Haath Ki Safai (1974), for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.[13] He reached his peak in the late 1970s with blockbusters like Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), solidifying his status as a leading actor. His career continued to flourish with hits such as Qurbani (1980), which became the highest-grossing film of the year and earned him critical acclaim.

In 1982, at the peak of his career, Khanna took a five-year hiatus from films to follow his spiritual guru, Osho Rajneesh.[5] He returned to the film industry in 1987 with the film Insaaf and continued to act in various roles.[14] In his later career, he gained acclaim for his portrayals of fatherly figures in blockbuster films such as Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), and Dabangg 2 (2012).
