And now, time for our segment Dateline India, in which we take a look at the developments taking place at the national or global level. Today, we will talk about:- ONSET OF MONSOON.

 

This year the India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared early arrival of monsoon in Several parts of India. The IMD declared the onset of monsoon in Maharashtra on 25th May,ten days ahead of the usual onset on 5th June. In fact, This year’s monsoon onset has shattered all-time records. Data show that this is the earliest that the monsoon has ever arrived in Mumbai with the previous earliest onset date logged at May 29 in the years 1971, 1962 and 1956.

 

केरल में मानसून 24 मई को पहुंचा, जो 1 जून की अपनी सामान्य तिथि से आठ दिन पहले था। मानसून की बारिश ने लक्षद्वीप, दक्षिण अरब सागर, पश्चिम-मध्य और पूर्व-मध्य अरब सागर के कुछ हिस्सों और कर्नाटक को भी कवर किया। समय से पहले मानसून का आगमन भारत के महत्वपूर्ण चार महीने के मानसून सीजन की शुरुआत का संकेत देता है, जो देश की वार्षिक वर्षा का 70% से अधिक हिस्सा है।

 

Monsoon’s timely arrival is not just a meteorological milestone but a vital economic indicator, particularly for the agriculture sector that remains heavily dependent on monsoon-fed water. But what’s behind the early onset of monsoon in India? Let’s understand. A mix of large-scale atmospheric and oceanic phenomena, along with regional weather systems, contributed to the early arrival of monsoon rains.

 

मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, अरब सागर के ऊपर बनी कम दबाव प्रणाली और विदर्भ तक फैले कम दबाव के कारण उपमहाद्वीप में नमी पहुंचने में मदद मिली, जिससे संवहन बढ़ा और मानसून की प्रगति तेज हुई।

 

Several other favourable elements aligned this year:

 

– The Madden-Julian Oscillation : A major atmospheric disturbance from the Indian Ocean that enhances rainfall when in its active phase.

– The Somali Jet: A cross-equatorial wind system that strengthens monsoon currents as it moves from the African coast to India.

– Mascarene High: A high-pressure system near the Mascarene Islands that, when intensified, drives moist winds toward the Indian west coast.

– Convection: An uptick in vertical transport of heat and moisture in the atmosphere further boosted rain activity.

Heat-low over Pakistan and adjoining areas: This created a suction effect, pulling moist air inland and reinforcing monsoon conditions.

 

इसके अतिरिक्त, उपग्रह डेटा ने आउटगोइंग लॉन्गवेव रेडिएशन (OLR) के कम मान दिखाए, जो कि मौसम विभाग के द्वारा मानसून की शुरुआत की घोषणा करने के लिए उपयोग किया जाने वाला एक अन्य प्रमुख संकेतक है। इसके अलावा तटस्थ एल नीनो-दक्षिणी दोलन (ENSO) की स्थिति भी देखी गई, यह एक ऐसी स्थिति जो आम तौर पर सामान्य या मजबूत मानसून के मौसम का समर्थन करती है।

 

Now let us understand how is the onset declared? The IMD uses a combination of parameters including percentage of Rainfall,depth of winds and satellite-observed radiation levels to officially declare monsoon onset over Kerala,the first destination in India where mosoon arrives.

 

एक बार जब लगातार दो दिनों तक सभी प्रमुख मौसम संबंधी मानदंड पूरे हो जाते हैं, तो मौसम विभाग आधिकारिक तौर पर केरल में मानसून की शुरुआत की घोषणा करता है। 2025 में, यह घोषणा व्यापक और एक साथ शुरुआत के साथ हुई – न केवल केरल में, बल्कि पूरे लक्षद्वीप क्षेत्र, पुडुचेरी और अरब सागर और बंगाल की खाड़ी के बड़े हिस्सों में भी। मानसून की हवाएँ दक्षिणी कर्नाटक और पूर्वोत्तर भारत के मिज़ोरम के कुछ हिस्सों तक भी पहुँच चुकी थीं, जो मौसम की बारिश के व्यापक और जल्दी शुरू होने का संकेत था। ये शर्तें 24 मई तक पूरी हो गईं, जिसके बाद मौसम विभाग ने घोषणा की। आमतौर पर मौसम विभाग हर साल 10 मई से मानसून की स्थिति का मूल्यांकन करना शुरू करता है।

 

The early and vigorous onset of monsoon is expected to benefit crucial sectors like agriculture, fisheries and livestock, especially in states where rainfall is a primary water source. It also reflects the growing accuracy of India’s weather forecasting systems, bolstered by initiatives like the Monsoon Mission and high-performance computing models.

The Indian Army shared the success of Operation Sindoor with the citizens and civil administration of Ferozepur in Punjab by organizing a special event ‘Ekta Shakti’, recently.

 

Many Sarpanches, Panches, farmers, other civilians and officials of the district administration were appreciated and honoured by the Army for their significant support and contribution in providing essential services and security assistance during the ‘Operation Sindoor’.

 

Among them was a 10 year old ‘Youngest Warrior’ Master Shavan. A young lad who wants to join Indian Army, supported the army personnels deployed in his village Mamdot of the border district Ferozepur.

 

This enthusiastic young warrior said that he has learnt to help others from his school. A 4th class student of Government Primary School said.

 

His father Sonu Singh and mother Santosh Rani were happy to be felicitated by the Indian Army. They said that Shavan, without carring for time, kept on providing essential eatables, day and night, to the army men deployed in their fields during the operation.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Major General RS Manral, General Officer Commanding of 7 Infantry Division, said that the vital contribution of the civil administration played a key role in making our operation successful. Their prompt response, regional knowledge, and ability to mobilise resources have helped us overcome various challenges. He said Indian Army is deeply grateful for their continuous support and unwavering commitment.

 

The residents of Ferozepur district expressed pride in being part of the ceremony and warmly appreciated the meaningful initiative by the Army. They pledged to work with dedication and unity, expressing unwavering love for the nation. For Parikrama, this is Rajesh Bali from Jalandhar.”

भारतीय कृत्रिम अंग निर्माण निगम यानी एलिम्को, भारत सरकार के वरिष्ठ नागरिकां व दिव्यांग जनों को जिनकी आय पन्द्रह हजार मासिक से कम है, राष्ट्रीय वयोश्री योजना के अंतर्गत दैनिक कार्यों में सहायता करने वाले सहायक उपकरण बनाने व वितरण करने का कार्य करता है। कल स्वतंत्रता सेनानी वीर सावरकर की जयंती के अवसर पर श्री विजयपुरम में दिव्याशा केन्द्र का उद्घाटन समारोह आयोजित किया गया।

 

माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी के नेतृत्व में देश के विभिन्न स्थानों में प्रधानमंत्री दिव्याशा केन्द्र स्थापित किए जा रहे हैं, ताकि जरूरतमंद लोगों को आसानी से उपकरण उपलब्ध कराए जाएं। भारतीय कृत्रिम अंग निर्माण निगम यानी एलिम्को, भारत सरकार एक एक मिनी रत्न उपक्रम है, जो दिव्यांगजन सशक्तिकरण विभाग, सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्रालय के अधीन भारत सरकार के तत्वाधान में काम कर रहा है। एलिम्को का उद्देश्य दिव्यांगजन के लिए पुनर्वास साधन और कृत्रिम अंग घटकों के निर्माण और आपूर्ति के लिए यह सन् 1972 में स्थापित हुआ था और सन् 1976 में इसका उत्पादन कार्य शुरू किया गया था। निगम का कार्यालय कानपुर मे स्थित है। एलिम्को विगत 46 वर्षों से उच्च कोटि के लिए सहायक यंत्र व उपकरण एवं कृत्रिम अंग निर्माण तथा सरकार की एडिप योजना के अंतर्गत वितरण का कार्य कर रहा है। एलिम्को भारत सरकार के द्वारा दिव्यांगजन के हित मे चलाई जा रही एडिप योजना को लागू करने वाली सबसे बड़ी नोडल एजेंसी है। एलिम्को एक ही छत के नीचे विभिन्न प्रकार की दिव्यांगता के लिए सहायक यंत्रों एवं उपकरणों का निर्माण एवं आपूर्ति का कार्य कर रहा है। इस अवसर पर ब्रुक्शाबाद के समग्र क्षेत्रीय केन्द्र में दिव्याशा केन्द्र का उद्घाटन समारोह आयोजित किया गया। इस अवसर पर श्री बी एल वर्मा, माननीय राज्य मंत्री, उपभोक्ता मामले, खाद्य और सार्वजनिक वितरण तथा सामाजिक और अधिकारिता मंत्रालय मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में मौजूद थे। कार्यक्रम में विशेष अतिथि के रूप में द्वीपों के माननीय सांसद बिष्णु पद रे, दक्षिण अंडमान ज़िला उपायुक्त श्री अर्जुन शर्मा, श्री एल कुमार सचिव, समाज कल्याण निदेशालय, डॉ. अविजित रॉय, उप-निदेशक समाज कल्याण निदेशालय तथा अन्य अधिकारी गण उपस्थित थे। इस मौके पर 49 लाभार्थियों में उन्यासी कृत्रिम उपकरण प्रदान किए गए, जिनकी लागत 2 लाख 75 हजार 255 रूपये रही। परिक्रमा के लिए श्री विजयपुरम से मैं पूजा सिंह.”

The sixth edition of the Women’s International Film Festival was held in Kottarakara at Kollam in Kerala last week showcasing a curated selection of films by women.

 

“The Women’s International Film Festival was held from May 23rd to 25th.The festival was organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy under the Department of Culture.The three-day festival celebrated women’s voices through feature films and documentaries featuring multiple genres and geographies. Around 25 films was screened in the festival. This included works in segments such as World Cinema, Indian Cinema, and Malayalam Cinema. The festival also featured entries by women filmmakers who garnered attention at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Apart from film screenings, the festival also hosted open forums and cultural programmes.The festival was part of the ‘Comprehensive Kottarakara’ initiative launched by Minister for Finance K.N. Balagopal. Large participation of film enthusiasts were witnessed in the film festival , that showcased works of woman film makers and on mostly women centric themes. As part of the ongoing YogAndhra 2025 campaign, a special police-themed yoga session was held today in Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, along with senior IAS and IPS officers, took part in the event, joining nearly 5,000 police personnel and yoga enthusiasts in performing yoga asanas. Launched by the state government in the lead-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, YogAndhra is a 26-day campaign being held across all 26 districts, with each day themed to focus on different aspects of yoga. The initiative aims to reach two crore people across the state through widespread awareness and structured training. The government is conducting yoga promotion programs at nearly 100 tourist destinations, highlighting yoga’s role not only as a fitness practice but as a way to balance body and mind. The state is also preparing for a grand yoga event in Visakhapatnam on June 21, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations. The government of Andhra Pradesh continues to position yoga as a vital part of public health — a practice that connects body, mind, and society in the path toward well-being. Indian pair beat seventh-seeded Indonesian pair of Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 19-21, 21-16 ,21-19 in a gruelling contest.

The benchmark domestic equity indices today ended with modest gains, snapping its two-day losing streak buoyed by late-session rally across most sectors with realty, metal and pharma leading the charge. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, gained 321 points, to close at 81,633. The National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 rose 81 points, to settle at 24,834. The broader market indices at the BSE also ended in positive territory. The Mid-Cap index advanced almost half per cent, and the Small-Cap index increased almost 0.4 per cent.

पृथ्वीराज कपूर

 

आज पुण्‍यतिथि है एक ऐसे कलाकार की, जिन्होंने न केवल हिंदी सिनेमा को पहचान दी, बल्कि रंगमंच को भी सम्मान और गरिमा से भर दिया। नाम है – पृथ्वीराज कपूर। हिंदी फिल्मों के पहले महानायक। एक ऐसी बुलंद आवाज़, जिसकी गूंज आज भी क्लासिक फिल्मों में सुनाई देती है। पृथ्वीराज कपूर का जन्म 3 नवंबर 1906 को हुआ था। उन्होंने वकालत की पढ़ाई छोड़कर, थिएटर और फिर फ़िल्मों की दुनिया में कदम रखा।

 

Prithviraj Kapoor, a pioneer of Indian theatre and film, mesmerized audiences with his powerful performances in movies like Mughal-e-Azam and Sikandar, setting the stage for a cinematic dynasty. He created a cinematic legacy, starring in some of the most iconic films in Indian history. His contributions to acting, storytelling, and music continue to inspire artists and movie lovers across the world.

 

उनका अभिनय सिर्फ़ परदे पर नहीं, बल्कि रंगमंच पर भी जीवंत था। 1944 में उन्होंने प्रेम थिएटर्स की स्थापना की – जिसने 16 वर्षों में 2600 से ज़्यादा नाटक प्रस्तुत किए।

 

सम्मान और पुरस्कार

 

पृथ्वीराज कपूर को उनके योगदान के लिए कई सम्मान मिले: पद्म भूषण (1969) दादासाहेब फाल्के पुरस्कार (1971) वे कपूर परिवार के प्रमुख थे, जिनके बेटे राज कपूर, शम्मी कपूर और शशि कपूर ने हिंदी सिनेमा में अपनी अमिट छाप छोड़ी। उनकी विरासत आज भी रणबीर कपूर, करीना कपूर और करिश्मा कपूर जैसे कलाकारों के माध्यम से जीवित है।

आज हिंदी सिनेमा के एक ऐसे गीतकार की पुण्‍यतिथि भी है जिन्होंने शब्दों में एहसास भर दिए… जिन्होंने ज़िंदगी के छोटे-छोटे पलों को गीतों में ढालकर अमर कर दिया। नाम है – योगेश गौड़, जिन्हें फ़िल्मी दुनिया में सिर्फ़ ‘योगेश’ के नाम से जाना जाता है।

 

श्री योगेश का जन्म 19 मार्च 1943 को लखनऊ में हुआ था। बहुत कम उम्र में ही पिता का साया उठ गया। पर हालात से हारने के बजाय, उन्होंने कलम उठाई… और चल दिए मुंबई की ओर। सफर आसान नहीं था। लेकिन एक दिन ऐसा भी आया जब उन्होंने वो गीत लिखा, जो सुनते ही हर किसी की आंखें भीग जाती हैं…

 

और इसी फ़िल्म ने योगेश जी को वो पहचान दी, जो बहुत कम लोगों को मिलती है। योगेश को पहला बड़ा ब्रेक 1962 में फ़िल्म ‘सखी रॉबिन’ से मिला, लेकिन असली पहचान उन्हें 1971 में फ़िल्म ‘आनंद’ से मिली, जिसमें “कहीं दूर जब दिन ढल जाए” और “ज़िंदगी कैसी है पहेली” जैसे अमर गीत शामिल हैं।
