External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will hold bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at Hyderabad House in New Delhi today. They will discuss a wide range of issues, including issues related to regional and global peace and security.
Secretary Rubio arrived in India yesterday on a four-day visit to participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday and briefed him on the sustained progress in bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties. Mr Modi asserted that India and the United States will continue to work closely for the global good. The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s consistent support for peace efforts and reiterated the call for peaceful resolution of the conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
Secretary Rubio shared US perspective on various regional and global issues, including the situation in West Asia. He called India a vital partner to the United States.

In Maharashtra, a 1,500-page charge sheet has been filed before the court at Nashik in connection with the alleged sexual assault and attempted religious conversion case linked to a TCS facility in the city. According to SIT Chief Sandeep Mitke, the charge sheet was filed yesterday against four accused, Matin Patel, Nida Khan, Danish Shaikh and Tausif Attar. He said, additional charge sheets related to seven to eight persons connected to offences are expected to be filed within the next three to four days.

US President Donald Trump said that a deal with Iran, including opening the Strait of Hormuz, has been largely negotiated after calls with Israel and other allies in the region. Announcing progress on his Truth Social platform, Trump said final aspects and details of the deal are being discussed and will be announced shortly. President Trump said he had spoken with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain, along with Israel.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei earlier told state television that the US and Iranian positions had been converging in the last week, but warned that did not mean agreements would be reached on key issues and accused the Americans of contradictory statements.
A ceasefire in Iran was agreed on April 8, and since then Washington and Tehran have engaged in talks over a long-term peace deal.

पश्चिम बंगाल में आयुष्मान भारत योजना इस वर्ष जुलाई से शुरू हो जाएगी। मुख्यमंत्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री जगत प्रकाश नड्डा के साथ एक वर्चुअल बैठक के बाद कल कोलकाता में ये घोषणा की। राज्य की स्वास्थ्य योजना ‘स्वास्थ्य साथी’ के अंतर्गत मौजूदा लाभार्थियों को आयुष्मान भारत योजना में शामिल किया जाएगा। आयुष्मान भारत आरोग्य मंदिर के संबंध में अगले महीने सहमति पत्र पर नई दिल्ली में हस्ताक्षर किए जाएंगे। श्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने बताया कि पश्चिम बंगाल में प्रधानमंत्री जन औषधि केंद्रों की संख्या मौजूदा 117 से बढ़ाकर 469 करने के संबंध में केंद्र सरकार को एक प्रस्ताव भेजा गया है।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि अलीपुरद्वार, कलिम्पोंग और दक्षिण दिनाजपुर जिलों में नए मेडिकल कॉलेज खोलने और उत्तर बंगाल के लिए एक नए एम्स का प्रस्ताव भी केंद्र सरकार को भेजा गया है।

Tamilnadu Agricultural University has released the undergraduate admission procedure for agriculture related programs for the 2026-27 academic year, stating that admissions to TNAU and Annamalai University’s agriculture stream will be conducted through a single online application portal. Candidates must register on the website and upload mandatory documents including the Class 12 marksheet, transfer certificate, community certificate and nativity/residence proof. Online applications can be submitted till June 8. TNAU will offer admissions to 14 undergraduate programs, covering agricultural sciences and technology streams, while Annamalai University will admit students to three agriculture programmes, including aided and self financing BSc (Hons) Agriculture and BSc (Hons) Horticulture. The admission will be after the release of rank list is published.

Indian Tennis pair of Adil Kalyanpur and Mukund Sasikumar have won the doubles title at the S M Krishna Memorial Open ATP Challenger 50 tennis tournament in Bengaluru. It is the first ATP Challenger doubles title for unseeded Indian tennis players. They beat Petr Bar Biryukov of Russia and Grigoriy Lomakin of Kazakhstan by 6-7, 6-4, 10-3 in the finals. After narrowly losing the opening set in tie break, the Indian team stepped up in the second set to force the match into the super tie breaker and win the title on home soil. Adil and Mukund had defeated the second seeds Charles Barry of Ireland and Joshua Charlton of Australia in straight sets to book their place in the finals. In the singles finals, Petr Bar Biryukov had defeated Belarusian Ilya Ivashka to claim the title.

The Telangana State Cabinet has approved several important decisions to improve people’s lives. The Cabinet approved the second phase of Indiramma Houses scheme. The government will construct 2.5 lakh houses for poor families. Each constituency will get 2,000 houses. The Cabinet also decided to complete incomplete houses from the first phase. About 1 lakh house inaugurations will take place on June 2nd. On June 1st, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other officials will inaugurate 28 houses for tribal communities in Asifabad district.

दिल्ली नगर निगम- एमसीडी ने स्वच्छ भारत अभियान के अंतर्गत सभी 12 जोनों में व्यापक “धूल मुक्त सड़क” अभियान और विशेष स्वच्छता अभियान तेज कर दिए हैं। इन अभियानों के तहत शहरी स्वच्छता में सुधार और धूल प्रदूषण कम करने के उद्देश्य से मैकेनाइज्ड रोड स्वीपिंग मशीनों, वाटर स्प्रिंकलरों, जेटिंग मशीनों और स्वच्छता कर्मचारियों की तैनाती की जा रही है।
इसके तहत करोल बाग जोन में एमसीडी ने इस महिने की 15 तारीख से 15 दिवसीय “डस्ट फ्री रोड्स” अभियान शुरू किया, जिसके अंतर्गत गिरधारी लाल गोस्वामी मार्ग, वंदे मातरम् मार्ग, शंकर रोड, रानी झांसी रोड, डीबी गुप्ता रोड और नजफगढ़ रोड सहित प्रमुख पीडब्ल्यूडी सड़कों को कवर किया गया।
वहीं, दक्षिण जोन में धौला कुआँ से एम्स, नेल्सन मंडेला मार्ग, अरविंदो मार्ग, राव तुलाराम मार्ग और अफ्रीका एवेन्यू मार्ग पर इसी प्रकार का अभियान चलाया गया।
दिल्ली नगर निगम पूरे शहर में नियमित निगरानी, मैकेनाइज्ड स्वच्छता व्यवस्था और जनभागीदारी के माध्यम से स्वच्छ, धूल-मुक्त तथा स्वस्थ वातावरण सुनिश्चित करने के लिए निरंतर कार्य कर रही है।

राजधानी में आज सड़कों पर भारतीय संस्कृति, लोक परंपराओं और उत्सव का अद्भुत और ऐतिहासिक दृश्य देखने को मिलेगा, जो राजधानी के सांस्कृतिक इतिहास में एक नया अध्याय जोड़ेगा। इसी कड़ी में देश के विभिन्न राज्यों से आए 1 लाख से अधिक वनवासी समाज के लोग पहली बार अपनी विशाल सांस्कृतिक शोभा यात्राओं में भाग लेंगे और ऐतिहासिक लाल किले तक पहुँचेंगे। इस शोभा यात्रा को चांदनी चौक से सांसद प्रवीन खंडेलवाल हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना करेगे। यह शोभा यात्रा दोपहर तीन बजे से शुरू होगी। इसका प्रारंभ स्थल अजमेरी गेट चौक है। यह यात्रा अजमेरी गेट चौक, बाजार अजमेरी गेट, हौजकाजी, चावड़ी बाजार, नई सड़क, चांदनी चौक, बादशाह बुला, लाल किला से रवाना होगी। इस यात्रा में वनवासी समाज के लोग अपनी पारंपरिक वेशभूषा, लोक नृत्य और सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुतियों के माध्यम से भारत की समृद्ध विरासत का प्रदर्शन करेंगे।

महाराष्ट्र के ठाणे जिले के डोंबिवली में चलाए गए तलाशी अभियान के दौरान कल सात महिलाओं सहित कुल 24 नाइजीरियाई नागरिकों को हिरासत में लिया गया। पुलिस अधिकारी के अनुसार, यह अभियान खोनी पालावा क्षेत्र में चलाया गया था। क्षेत्र में कथित तौर पर अवैध रूप से रह रहे विदेशी नागरिकों के बारे में मिली गुप्त सूचनाओं के बाद ठाणे और नवी मुंबई पुलिस ने संयुक्त रूप से यह अभियान चलाया। कुल 24 नाइजीरियाई नागरिकों को हिरासत में लिया गया है, जिनमें 13 पुरुष, सात महिलाएं, तीन नाबालिग लड़के और एक नाबालिग लड़की शामिल हैं।

महाराष्ट्र सरकार
महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने बीड के पूर्व कलेक्टर अविनाश पाठक के खिलाफ निलंबन आदेश जारी किया है, जिन्हें 241 करोड़ रुपये के कथित भूमि अधिग्रहण मुआवजे घोटाले के सिलसिले में गिरफ्तार किया गया था। 2013 बैच के आईएएस अधिकारी पाठक को 7 मई को लातूर में बीड पुलिस की विशेष जांच टीम ने गिरफ्तार किया था और वे फिलहाल न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं।

Kazi Nazrul Islam (24 May 1899 – 29 August 1976) was a Bengali poet, short story writer, journalist, lyricist, and musician. He was later honoured with the title of national poet of Bangladesh. Nazrul produced a large body of poetry, music, messages, novels, and stories with themes that included equality, justice, anti-imperialism, humanity, rebellion against oppression and religious devotion.[11] Nazrul Islam’s activism for political and social justice as well as writing a poem titled “Bidrohī”, meaning “the rebel” in Bengali, earned him the title of “Bidrohī Kôbi” (Rebel Poet). His compositions form the avant-garde music genre of Nazrul Gīti (Music of Nazrul).
Born in the British Raj period into a Bengali Muslim Kazi family from Churulia in Asansol, then in the Burdwan district in the Bengal Presidency (now in West Bengal, India),[2] Nazrul Islam received religious education and as a young man worked as a muezzin at a local mosque. He learned about poetry, drama, and literature while working with the rural theatrical group Leṭor Dôl, Leṭo being a folk song genre of West Bengal usually performed by the people from the Muslim community of the region. He joined the British Indian Army in 1917 and was posted in Karachi. Nazrul Islam established himself as a journalist in Calcutta after the war ended. He criticised the British Raj and called for revolution through his famous poetic works, such as “Bidrohī” (‘The Rebel’) and “Bhangar Gan” (‘The Song of Destruction’), as well as in his publication Dhūmketu (‘The Comet’). His nationalist activism in the Indian independence movement led to his frequent imprisonment by the colonial British authorities. While in prison, Nazrul Islam wrote the “Rajbôndīr Jôbanbôndī” (‘Deposition of a Political Prisoner’). His writings greatly inspired Bengalis of East Pakistan during the Bangladesh Liberation War.
Nazrul Islam’s writings explored themes such as freedom, humanity, love, and revolution. He opposed all forms of bigotry and fundamentalism, including religious, caste-based and gender-based. Nazrul wrote short stories, novels, and essays but is best known for his songs and poems. He introduced the ghazal songs in the Bengali language and is also known for his extensive use of Arabic- and Persian-influenced Bengali words in his works.
Nazrul Islam wrote and composed nearly 4,000 songs—many recorded by the Gramophone Company of India—collectively known as ‘Nazrul Gīti’. In 1942, at the age of 43, he began to be affected by an unknown disease, losing his voice and memory. A medical team in Vienna diagnosed the disease as Pick’s disease, a rare incurable neurodegenerative disease. The ailing poet was taken to Bangladesh with the consent of the government of India on 24 May 1972, at the invitation of the government of Bangladesh. His family accompanied him and relocated to Dhaka. Later, on 18 February 1976, the citizenship of Bangladesh was conferred upon him. He died on 29 August 1976

Described as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture over his 69-year career. With an estimated 125 million records sold worldwide, he is one of the best-selling musicians. Dylan added increasingly sophisticated lyrical techniques to the folk music of the early 1960s, infusing it “with the intellectualism of classic literature and poetry”.His lyrics incorporated political, social, and philosophical influences, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture.
Dylan was born in St. Louis County, Minnesota. He moved to New York City in 1961 to pursue a music career. His 1962 debut album, Bob Dylan, containing traditional folk and blues material, was followed by his breakthrough album, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan (1963), which included “Girl from the North Country” and “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall”, adapting older folk songs. His songs “Blowin’ in the Wind” (1963) and “The Times They Are a-Changin'” (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. In 1965 and 1966, Dylan created controversy when he used electrically amplified rock instrumentation for his albums Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited (both 1965), and Blonde on Blonde (1966). His six-minute single “Like a Rolling Stone” (1965) expanded commercial and creative boundaries in popular music.

करतार सिंह सराभा (अंग्रेज़ी: Kartar Singh Sarabha, जन्म- 24 मई, 1896, लुधियाना; मृत्यु- 16 नवम्बर, 1915) भारत के प्रसिद्ध क्रान्तिकारियों में से एक थे। उन्हें अपने शौर्य, साहस, त्याग एवं बलिदान के लिए हमेशा याद किया जाता रहेगा। महाभारत के युद्ध में जिस प्रकार वीर अभिमन्यु ने किशोरावस्था में ही कर्तव्य का पालन करते हुए मृत्यु का आलिंगन किया था, उसी प्रकार सराभा ने भी अभिमन्यु की भाँति केवल उन्नीस वर्ष की आयु में ही हँसते-हँसते देश के लिए अपने जीवन का बलिदान कर दिया। उनके शौर्य एवं बलिदान की मार्मिक गाथा आज भी भारतीयों को प्रेरणा देती है और देती रहेगी। यदि आज के युवक सराभा के बताये हुए मार्ग पर चलें, तो न केवल अपना, अपितु देश का मस्तक भी ऊँचा कर सकते हैं।

मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी (अंग्रेज़ी: Majrooh Sultanpuri; जन्म- 1 अक्टूबर, 1919, उत्तर प्रदेश; मृत्यु- 24 मई, 2000, मुम्बई) भारतीय हिन्दी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध शायर और गीतकार थे। इनका पूरा नाम ‘असरार उल हसन ख़ान’ था। इनके लिखे हुए कलाम में ज़िंदगी के अनछुए पहलुओं से रूबरू कराने की ज़बरदस्त क्षमता थी। मजरूह की कलम की स्याही नज्मों के रूप में एक ऐसी गाथा के रूप में चारों ओर फैली, जिसने उर्दू शायरी को महज मोहब्बत के सब्जबाग़ों से निकालकर दुनिया के दीगर स्याह सफ़ेद पहलुओं से भी जोड़ा। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने रूमानियत को भी नया रंग और ताजगी प्रदान करने की पूरी कोशिश की, जिसमें वह काफ़ी हद तक सफल भी हुए। मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी ने चार दशक से भी ज़्यादा अपने लंबे सिने कैरियर में क़रीब 300 फ़िल्मों के लिए लगभग 4000 गीतों की रचना की है। आइये सुनते हैं फिल्म Hum Kisi se kum nahi का ये खूबसूरत गीत–
मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी के सिने कैरियर में उनकी जोड़ी संगीतकार एस.डी. बर्मन के साथ भी खूब जमी। एस.डी. बर्मन और मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी की जोड़ी वाली फ़िल्मों में ‘पेइंग गेस्ट’, ‘नौ दो ग्यारह’, ‘सोलवां साल’, ‘काला पानी’, ‘चलती का नाम गाड़ी’, ‘सुजाता’, ‘बंबई का बाबू’, ‘बात एक रात की’, ‘तीन देवियां’, ‘ज्वैलथीफ़’ और ‘अभिमान’ जैसी सुपरहिट फ़िल्में शामिल हैं।
मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी के महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान को देखते हुए वर्ष 1993 में उन्हें फ़िल्म जगत् के सर्वोच्च सम्मान ‘दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार’ से नवाजा गया। इसके अलावा वर्ष 1964 मे प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘दोस्ती’ में अपने रचित गीत ‘चाहूँगा मैं तुझे सांझ सवेरे’ के लिए वह सर्वश्रेष्ठ गीतकार के ‘फ़िल्म फ़ेयर’ पुरस्कार से भी सम्मानित किए गए।

He is married to Kanchan Roshan with whom he has two children – a son, Eshaan Roshan, married to actor and model Aishwarya Singh in 2025 and a daughter, Pashmina Roshan, also an actress.
Career
Rajesh Roshan had a frequent successful collaboration with Kishore Kumar, Basu Chatterjee, Dev Anand, Mohammed Rafi, Amit Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle. He shot to fame with the score for the 1974 film Kunwara Baap and the 1975 film Julie; for the latter he won the Filmfare Best Music Director Award.
Rajesh Roshan scored for Kunwara Baap (1974) and then in three back-to-back hit films: Des Pardes, Man Pasand, Lootmaar. He went on to compose melodious tunes and made Kishore Kumar sing them in films like Mama Bhanja, Doosra Aadmi, Swami, Priyatama, Yehi Hai Zindagi, Ek Hi Raasta, Swarag Narak, Inkaar, Khatta Meetha, Baton Baton Mein, Do Aur Do Paanch, Kaamchor, Hamari Bahu Alka, Jaag Utha Insan, Bhagwaan Dada, Ghar Sansar followed by films with Rajesh Khanna like Janta Hawaldar, Nishaan, Babu and Aakhir Kyon?.
In the 1990s, he worked in albums like Karan Arjun (1995), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), Papa Kehte Hai (1996), Koyla (1997), Keemat – They Are Back, Daag: The Fire (1999), Dastak (1996), Kya Kehna (2000) and Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000).
Critics believe that several of his most popular songs are closely based on popular songs from other countries.
Rajesh Roshan has been the recipient of several prestigious awards for his contributions to Hindi cinema music. He has won multiple Filmfare Awards and other accolades for Best Music Director for films like Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and Koi… Mil Gaya.
In 2025, Netflix released a four-part documentary series titled The Roshans. The series traces the artistic lineage from composer Roshan to his sons Rakesh Roshan and Rajesh Roshan, and to actor Hrithik Roshan, reflecting on how the family’s creative output helped shape mainstream Bollywood music and cinema.
