The Election Commission has announced a stringent security plan for the second phase of assembly polls in West Bengal, making it clear that any attempt to disrupt voting or obstruct electors would be dealt with firmly. The EC directed security personnel to carry out constituency-wise deployment and step up area domination exercises in interior lanes and sensitive neighbourhoods to ensure that voters can exercise their franchise without fear. During a high-level coordination meeting, attended by poll officials, senior police officers and commanders of central forces from three election districts under Kolkata, the EC reviewed the preparedness in 142 constituencies that would go to polls on April 29.
Meanwhile, state Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who visited Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas district ahead of the second phase of polling, held a meeting with representatives of various political parties and urged them to encourage voters to participate freely.

The university has directed all engineering faculty to register their personal academic credentials along with a geotagged picture within the campus to get the new ID before April 30. The University also asked the respective principals to verify the details of their faculty members. It has been mandated to verify and authentic faculty details using biometric of each faculty duly verified through UIDAI . The suspension of former Vice Chancellor R.Velraj by the University’s syndicate was set aside by the then Governor R.N.Ravi The case is pending in Court. Madras High Court also quashed a DVAC case against previous affiliation Director V.R.Giridev.

The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department has directed all government health facilities to set up dedicated heat stroke management rooms amid rising temperatures As per a recent circular, community health centres must allocate 2 beds, taluk hospitals 5 beds, and district hospitals 10 beds, with facilities operational from March 1 to July 31, 2026. These rooms should be equipped with essentials such as fans, ice cubes, and thermometers.
The department also instructed hospitals to train doctors and paramedical staff to handle heat-related illnesses, noting that timely care can prevent serious complications and deaths.
The move comes as temperatures in Bengaluru crossed 35°C, highlighting the growing impact of heat waves even in traditionally moderate climates.

आज पुण्यतिथि है केरलम के प्रसिद्ध समाज-सुधारक और पत्रकार, टी. के. माधवन की। उन्होंने अनेक तरह की कुरितियों के खिलाफ आंदोलन किए। वर्ष 924 के वायकोम मंदिर सत्याग्रह के नेता के रूप में माधवन को प्रसिद्धि मिली। हरिजनों के मंदिर प्रवेश को लेकर यह सत्याग्रह 20 महीनों तक चला। इसमें माधवन गिरफ़्तार भी किए गये। टी. के. माधवन ने तिरुनेलवेली में गांधी से मुलाकात की और वायकोम की यात्रा करने के लिए उन्हें मनाया। इसके बाद गांधी जी के सहयोग से सत्याग्रह आंदोलन सफलतापूर्वक समाप्त हुआ।

It has such a strong vibe throughout its short run time of just over 2.5 minutes. Hirt’s catchy trumpet part floats effortlessly along as bells and a harpsichord add an interesting, if slightly obscure, element.
Whilst clearly not as memorable throughout, I do enjoy the track ‘Mess Around’ a late 60s soul-jazz swinger, and ‘Love Ya Baby’ a funky strutting funky number where Hirt’s skilful playing really shines through.
