Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend 20th Foundation Day Celebrations of the NDRF in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh today. On this occasion, the Home Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth over 200 crores rupees. The premises of three important centers including the Southern Campus of the National Institute of Disaster Management, Campus of the 10th Battalion of the NDRF, and the premises of the Regional Response Centre in Supaul will be inaugurated today.
Mr Shah will also lay the foundation stone for a new ‘Integrated Indoor Shooting Range’ at the National Police Academy (NPA) in Hyderabad, where IPS probationary officers will be trained in firing skills. This ‘Integrated Indoor Shooting Range’ will be 50 meters long and will have 10 lanes, allowing ten individuals to practice firing simultaneously.
During this visit, the Home Minister will also inaugurate the state government’s Regional Forensic Science Laboratory building in Tirupati.

The Indian mobility industry is expected to double and surpass 600 billion US Dollars by 2030, a report by Google and Boston Consulting Group said. According to the Think Mobility Report, emerging revenue pools such as electric, shared, and connected mobility are poised to contribute 100 billion US Dollars to the total market by 2030, while a majority of the revenue will come from classic revenue pools comprising classic components, sale of new ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles, finance and insurance etc. The report said that around 51 per cent of respondents in the study expressed concern on non-availability of Electric Vehicles charging infrastructure, 45 per cent about high vehicle cost, 31 per cent about battery life and 20 per cent on a variety of models for four-wheeler (4W) electric vehicles. According to the report, women now influence 52 per cent of decision-making in the electric vehicles (EV) space, surpassing the 38 per cent for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj has been witnessing a huge turnout of devotees and pilgrims. Over seven crore and 72 lakh devotees and pilgrims have attended the Mahakumbh so far and took a holy dip in Triveni Sangam. मौसम विभाग ने तमिलनाडु, पुद्दुचेरी, कराईकरल, केरल और माहे में कहीं कहीं तेज़ वर्षा का अनुमान व्यक्त किया है। आज केरल और माहे में बारिश और तेज़ हवा चल सकती हैं। कोमोरिन और मन्नार की खाड़ी से सटे इलाकों में 45 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की गति से हवा चल सकती है। मछुआरों को इन इलाकों में नहीं जाने की सलाह दी गई है।

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza will come into force at 12 noon Indian time today. Earlier yesterday, Israel’s security cabinet approved the Gaza ceasefire agreement that involves the exchange of dozens of hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and a temporary pause in the 15-month-long conflict. But hours before the ceasefire is due to go into effect, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Gaza ceasefire agreement may be temporary and Israel retains the right to resume Gaza fighting. He has asked Hamas to provide a list of 33 hostages to be freed in the first phase today. Under the first phase of the agreement, Hamas has agreed to release 33 hostages, including children, women and individuals over 50 years of age. In return, Israel will release 50 Palestinian prisoners for each female Israeli soldier freed by Hamas and 30 prisoners for other female hostages.

The Madras HighCourt has directed the Tamilnadu Government to initiate immediate action to prevent illegal mining of sand, soil and savudu from Government land in the Kosasthalai river basin. The order was passed by a division bench of Justice S.M.Subramaniam and Justice.V. lakshmi Narayanan. The Government submitted that all actions were initiated to prevent illegal mining. The permissible limit alone was to be allowed as per the license and the quantum permitted to the licensee. The Government also informed in the Court that Special task forces were constituted for the effective prevention of illegal mining of sand.

In the memorandum submitted to the Union minister, the state government has requested that the guidelines for implementing PM Gram Sadak yojana be relaxed to include road connectivity to habitations having below 500 population. This relaxation is sought as all the habitations with over 500 population have road connectivity in the state.

The Telangana Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STTDGC) India to establish a state-of-the-art data centre campus in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister’s Office informed this in a social media post. The delegation from the state Government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with IT and Industries Sridhar Babu, signed the MoU, which involves an investment of 3 thousand 500 crore rupees for the AI-ready campus. The release stated that the campus is expected to have a capacity of up to 100 MW, making it one of India’s largest data centre projects.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Raising Day is observed annually on January 19. It was raised on this day in the year 2006, as the main disaster response force of the country. Being a specialised disaster response force, NDRF rescuers have saved lakhs of lives in various disasters and are always committed to its motto, ‘Aapda Seva Sadaiv Sarvatra’. Presently, the NDRF comprises 16 Battalions drawn from the CAPF, viz BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles.
Since its inception, the NDRF has continually demonstrated expertise and compassion in handling various disaster scenarios, earning the trust and gratitude of millions. Notable instances include the successful rescue operations during the Bellary building collapse (2010), Uttarakhand Cloud Burst in 2013, a tunnel collapse in Silkyara village, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand on 12.11.2023.
The NDRF is also deputed abroad for rescue operations. During cyclone Hud-Hud in October 2014 and the earthquake in Nepal in April 2015, NDRF’s Rapid deployment and effective rescue operations played a vital role. Furthermore, the NDRF’s expertise extends beyond traditional rescue operations to address Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear (CBRN) challenges.

दादा साहेब तोरणे
भारत की पहली फिल्म बनाने वाले दादा साहेब तोरणे ने जब भारत में सिर्फ विदेशी फिल्में ही दिखाई जाती थीं, तब 1912 में दादा ने फिल्म बनाई थी, फिल्म श्री पुंडलिक ये पहली फिल्म तो थी,लेकिन विदेशियों की मदद से बनी इस फिल्म की जगह एक साल बाद 1913 में आई दादा साहेब फाल्के की राजा हरिश्चंद्र को पहली भारतीय फीचर फिल्म माना गया।
इनका असली नाम रामचंद्र गोपाल तोरणे था। आज भी गिनीज बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड में भारत की पहली फिल्म बनाने का श्रेय इन्हें ही दिया जाता है। इतिहास में भले ही इनका नाम दर्ज ना हो, लेकिन पहले फिल्म एडिटर, डायरेक्टर, प्रोड्यूसर और डिस्ट्रीब्यूटर भी इन्हें ही कहा जाता है। 1933 में पहली बोलती फिल्म आलम आरा बनाने का सुझाव भी दादा साहेब तोरणे ने आर्देशिर ईरानी को दिया था।

He was the founder in 1848 of the Brahmo religion, which today is synonymous with Brahmoism.[2][3] Born in Shilaidaha, his father was the industrialist Dwarakanath Tagore;[4] he himself had 14 children, many of whom, including Nobel-prize winning poet Rabindranath Tagore, made significant artistic or literary contributions to society.[5][6]Thakur Bari (House of Tagores)[edit]Debendranath Tagore was born to the famous industrialist Dwarakanath Tagore, who was called ‘Prince’ because of his extravagant lifestyle, and Digambari Devi, a very pious lady, in the Tagore family in Jorasanko, popularly known as Jorasanko Thakur Bari in North-western Kolkata, which was later converted into a campus of the Rabindra Bharati University. The Tagore family, with over three hundred years of history,[7] has been one of the leading families of Calcutta, and is regarded as a key influence during the Bengal Renaissance.[7] The family has produced several persons who have contributed substantially in the fields of business, social and religious reformation, literature, art and music.

विश्वनाथन शांता (अंग्रेज़ी: Viswanathan Shanta, जन्म- 11 मार्च, 1927; मृत्यु- 19 जनवरी, 2021) भारत की ऐसी महिला थीं, जिन्हें उनके जनकल्याणकारी कार्यों के लिए वर्ष 2005 में रेमन मैग्सेसे पुरस्कार दिया गया था। उनका पूरा नाम डॉ. विश्वनाथन शांता था। भारत में कैंसर के रोगियों की संख्या बढ़ती जा रही है। विशेष रूप से पुरुषों में गले, फेफड़ों तथा पेट का कैंसर, प्रमुखता से देखा जाता है जो तम्बाकू के कारण होता है। स्त्रियों में गर्दन तथा स्तन का कैंसर सबसे ज्यादा देखा जाता है। इसके बावजूद लम्बे समय से इस दिशा में कोई खोजपरक काम तथा इसके इलाज के लिए कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठाया गया है। डॉ. वी. शांता ने ‘चेन्नई कैंसर इन्टीट्यूट’ में इस ओर बहुत काम किया और इस उपेक्षित क्षेत्र में इलाज तथा अनुसंधान दोनों को अपने निर्देशन में सम्पन्न किया। उनको उनके द्वारा जनकल्याणकारी कार्य के लिए मैग्सेसे पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया था।

Brij Narayan Chakbast (19 January 1882 – 12 February 1926), also spelled as Brij Narain Chakbast, was an Indian Urdu poet.Life[edit]Chakbast (1882–1926) was an Urdu poet. He was born on 19 January 1882 in a Kashmiri Pandit family settled in North India in the 15th century A.D.. Chakbast was born in Faizabad (near Lucknow) in 1882. His father Pandit Udit Narayan Chakbast, was born at Lucknow in, circa 1843, and he was also a poet. Pandit Udit Narayan was deputy collector, the highest post that any Indian could have at that time.[1] After the death of his father in 1887, the family moved to Lucknow and they started living in Kashmiri Mohalla of Lucknow. Chakbast was educated in Lucknow, and he became a successful lawyer. He earned his B.A. degree in 1905 and his L.L.B. in 1907 from Canning College, Lucknow,which was affiliated with Allahabad University at the time.
