The Centre and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a 50 million dollar loan agreement for climate-adaptative water harvesting project in Meghalaya.
The loan agreement for the Climate-Adaptative Community-Based Water-Harvesting Project was signed yesterday by Joint Secretary in Department of Economic Affairs, Juhi Mukherjee, and Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission, Mio Oka.
The project will support the construction of 532 small water-storage facilities across 12 districts. These facilities will incorporate climate-resilient designs to capture and manage heavy rainfall and flash floods during monsoon season. The stored water shall improve water security during the dry season.
Under the project, three thousand hectares of command area will be developed to provide reliable irrigation areas for farmers. It will also establish 50 weather stations for gathering and monitoring of climate data, and micro-irrigation systems in Garo, Jaintia, and Khasi regions.
The ADB will help strengthen the capacity of the Meghalaya State Watershed and Wasteland Development Agency and the Soil and Water Conservation Department in water management.

12th Puducherry International Documentary and Short Film Festival is set to begin in the Union Territory today. The three-day festival will showcase 35 short films and documentaries from across the world. The event is being organised by the Department of Electronic Media and Mass Communication at Pondicherry University, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation of India, Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Artists Association, and Puducherry Film Forum.
Renowned Indian documentary filmmaker Anand Patwardhan will inaugurate the festival at the Jawaharlal Nehru Auditorium in the Pondicherry University campus, Kalapet. The opening day will feature a special screening and discussion of Patwardhan’s critically acclaimed film ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Ten other films are also lined up for today’s screening. Tomorrow, filmmaker Sivakumar Mohanan will lead a masterclass on ‘Checklist for Independent Cinema.’ Prominent personalities such as editor B. Lenin, filmmaker V. The camp aims to provide essential basic medical check-ups, consultations, and healthcare services to support the health and well-being of CVRDE contract employees who are covered under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme. The Metro rail service provider in Bengaluru has announced commencement of rail services to suit the candidates appearing for the KPSC exam on 8th of December, Sunday. On this day, the metro services will commence at 5.30 am instead of 7.00 am. BMRCL has issued a release that the metro services will begin early so that the candidates can reach their examination centres using metro rail services. Karnataka Public Service Commission is conducting Panchayat Development Officer examination on that day. The first train will leave Madavara, Silk Institute, Challaghatta and Whitefield stations at 5.30 am. Between 5.30 am and 7.00am the trains will run once every half an hour. Thereafter the train services will run as routine.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy formally launched a special Mobile app Indiramma Illu (Indiramma Houses) to select the Indiramma Housing Scheme beneficiaries in a transparent manner at a function in Hyderabad yesterday.The App will have Telugu content for the benefit of the rural residents. The Chief Minister said the app will provide Indiramma houses to the deserving and simplified procedures for the convenience of the beneficiaries to ensure that no errors creep in the implementation of the Housing scheme. He said administrative sanction had been given to 4.50 lakh houses in the first year and 3,500 houses have been allotted to each Assembly constituency in the State. He said the priority would be given to the poorest of the poor in the allotment of houses, followed by Dalits, Tribals, Agricultural laborers, sanitation workers, disabled people, and transgender.

सर्वोच्च न्यायालय -दिल्ली ग्रैप
सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने वायु गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन आयोग को दिल्ली में वायु प्रदूषण से निपटने के लिए चरणबद्ध कार्रवाई योजना के चौथे चरण-ग्रैप-4 के प्रतिबंधों को दूसरे चरण में बदलने की अनुमति दे दी है। यह निर्णय वायु गुणवत्ता में हाल ही में हुए सुधार के बाद लिया गया है। दिल्ली में 30 नवंबर से औसत वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक 300 से नीचे चल रहा है। न्यायालय ने आयोग को एहतियात के तौर पर ग्रैप के तीसरे चरण के अन्तर्गत कुछ उपायों को शामिल करने पर विचार करने की सलाह दी है।

मेट्रो-ब्लू लाइन
दिल्ली मेट्रो रेल कॉरपोरेशन-डी.एम.आर.सी. के रखरखाव कर्मियों ने कल रिकॉर्ड समय में मोती नगर और कीर्ति नगर के बीच प्रभावित ब्लू लाइन के एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्से को बहाल कर दिया। दिल्ली मेट्रो ने कहा कि मोती नगर और कीर्ति नगर मेट्रो स्टेशनों के बीच कुछ शरारती तत्वों द्वारा कथित तौर पर केबल को क्षतिग्रस्त करने के बाद ब्लू मेट्रो लाइन प्रभावित हुई थी। डी.एम.आर.सी. ने बताया कि मरम्मत कार्य करने के लिए 20 कर्मियों की एक विशेष टीम का गठन कर प्रभावित क्षेत्र में तैनात किया गया। कुल 140 मीटर केबल क्षतिग्रस्त हो गई थी और इन कर्मियों ने मात्र 30 मिनट के रिकॉर्ड समय में मरम्मत का काम पूरा कर लिया।

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (Bhīmrāo Rāmjī Āmbēḍkar; 14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956) was an Indian economist, jurist, social reformer and political leader who chaired the committee that drafted the Constitution of India based on the debates of the Constituent Assembly of India and the first draft of Sir Benegal Narsing Rau. Ambedkar served as Law and Justice minister in the first cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru. He later converted to Buddhism and inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement after renouncing Hinduism.
After graduating from Elphinstone College, University of Bombay, Ambedkar studied economics at Columbia University and the London School of Economics, receiving doctorates in 1927 and 1923, respectively, and was among a handful of Indian students to have done so at either institution in the 1920s.

डॉक्टर आम्बेडकर अंतिम समय तक दलित-वर्ग के उत्थान के लिए कार्य करते रहे। सन् 1927 में उन्होंने सार्वजनिक तालाब से पानी लेने के लिए अछूतों को अधिकार दिलाने के लिए एक सत्याग्रह का नेतृत्व किया। उन्होंने सन् 1937 में बंबई उच्च न्यायालय में यह मुक़दमा जीता।

कर्नल होशियार सिंह (अंग्रेज़ी: Major Hoshiar Singh, जन्म: 5 मई, 1937; मृत्यु: 6 दिसम्बर, 1998) परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित भारतीय सैनिक कर्नल होशियार सिंह की आज पुण्यतिथि है। इन्हें यह सम्मान सन् 1971 में मिला। वर्ष 1971 के भारत पाकिस्तान युद्ध ने भारत के दो बहादुर सिपाहियों को परमवीर चक्र दिया गया था। एक तो पूना हॉर्स के सेकेण्ड लेफ्टिनेंट अरुण खेत्रपाल जिन्होंने अपने प्राण गँवा कर सबसे कम उम्र के परमवीर चक्र विजेता का सम्मान प्राप्त किया, दूसरे मेजर होशियार सिंह जिन्होंने 3 ग्रेनेडियर्स की अगुवाई करते हुए अपना अद्भुत पराक्रम दिखाया और दुश्मन को पराजय का मुँह देखना पड़ा। उन्होंने जम्मू कश्मीर की दूसरी ओर, शकरगड़ के पसारी क्षेत्र में जरवाल का मोर्चा फ़तह किया था।
इस युद्ध को भारत ने कई मोर्चो पर लड़ा जिसमें एक मोर्चे पर मेजर होशियार सिंह ने भी कमान संभाली। भारत की सैन्य दक्षता तथा शौर्य के आगे पाकिस्तान को घुटने टेकने पड़े और अंततः पूर्वी पाकिस्तान का हिस्सा समूचे पाकिस्तान से अलग होकर एक स्वतंत्र देश बन गए, जो बांग्लादेश कहलाया। इस युद्ध में भारत ने न केवल विजय हासिल की वरन् पूर्वी पाकिस्तान के निरीह, निहत्थे नागरिकों को बर्बरता का शिकार होने से भी बचाया।

She is most known for her roles in classics such as Anarkali (1953), Ghunghat (1960) and Taj Mahal (1963), and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in Ghunghat.
Early life
Bina Rai, born as Krishna Sarin, hailed from Lahore, Punjab, British India in 1931. Her family was uprooted from Lahore during the communal frenzy and was resettled in Uttar Pradesh. She went to school in Lahore and then attended IT college in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Bina Rai lived in Kanpur until she moved out for acting. She had to convince her parents to allow her to act in films, she claimed that she went on a hunger strike to convince her disapproving parents to let her join films, and they finally relented.
विवाह के बाद बीना राय ने पति के साथ मिलकर ‘पी.एन. फ़िल्म्स’ के बैनर में ‘शगूफा’ (1953), ‘गोलकुण्डा का क़ैदी’ (1954) और ‘समुन्दर’ (1957) जैसी फ़िल्मों का निर्माण किया। साथ ही पति-पत्नी की इस जोड़ी ने इन फ़िल्मों में अभिनय भी किया।
पचास का दशक श्यामा, नन्दा, वैजयन्तीमाला, नूतन, आशा पारेख, माला सिन्हा, मीना कुमारी, वहीदा रहमान और अमिता जैसी प्रतिभाशाली अभिनेत्रियों के उदय का गवाह है, जिन्होंने इस दशक में बिना ने बतौर नायिका कॅरियर की शुरुआत की और अपनी प्रतिभा के बल पर आगे चलकर लाखों दर्शकों को अपना दीवाना बनाया। 18 बरस के अपने कॅरियर में बीना राय ने सिर्फ़ अट्ठाईस फ़िल्मों में काम किया और फिर वक़्त के बदलते रुख को भांपकर शालीनता के साथ फ़िल्मोद्योग से किनारा कर लिया और फिर चार दशकों से भी ज़्यादा समय तक उन्होंने मीडिया और अपने प्रशंसकों की नज़रों से खुद को छिपाये रखा।
In the 1970s, her son Prem Krishen became an actor and had one big hit; Dulhan Wohi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977), but couldn’t sustain the momentum, so he turned producer, with the Cinevistaas banner, which went on produce TV series such as Kathasagar, Gul Gulshan Gulfam and Junoon. He launched his daughter Akanksha Malhotra as an actress in 2002 in his home productions, claiming that she reminds him so much of his mother Bina Rai.
Bina Rai stopped acting in films many years ago, claiming that women after a certain age don’t get good roles. She also talks fondly of her husband Premnath, who had died on 3 November 1992. In 2002, their son, Kailash (Monty) released a tribute album, to his father on the occasion of his 10th death anniversary and 86th birth anniversary, titled Amar Premnath, released by Saregama. Her grandson, Siddharth Malhotra, directed the successful TV series on doctors; Sanjivani (2004).

Aziz Mian Qawwal (Urdu: عزیز میاں قوال) (17 April 1942 – 6 December 2000) was a traditional qawwal famous for singing ghazals in his own style of qawwali and is considered one of the greatest qawwals in South Asia.He holds the record for singing the longest commercially released qawwali, Hashr Ke Roz Yeh Poochhunga, which runs slightly over 150 minutes. Aziz is known by sobriquets :”Shahenshah-e-Qawwali” (King of Qawwali), “Fauji Qawwal”(Military Singer), since his early performances were often in army barracks, and “the Nietzschean Qawwal”.

प्रवीण कुमार सोबती (अंग्रेज़ी: Praveen Kumar Sobti, जन्म- 6 दिसंबर, 1947; मृत्यु- 7 फ़रवरी, 2022) भारतीय फ़िल्म तथा छोटे परदे के अभिनेता प्रवीण कुमार का आज जन्मदिन है। उन्हें बी. आर. चोपड़ा के मशहूर टीवी सीरियल ‘महाभारत’ में भीम की भूमिका निभाने के कारण ख्याति मिली। प्रवीण कुमार ने अपने कॅरियर में एक्टिंग के अलावा खेल में भी हिस्सा लिया था। वह एक एथलीट भी थे। उन्होंने दो बार ओलंपिक में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया। एशियन और कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स में उन्होंने देश के लिए कई गोल्ड और सिल्वर मेडल हासिल किए। खेल के प्रति उनके योगदान के लिए साल 1967 में उन्हें ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार’ से नवाजा गया था।
एक्टिंग में आने से पहले वह एक हैमर और डिस्कस थ्रो एथलीट थे। वह एशियाई खेलों में चार मेडल (2 स्वर्ण, 1 रजत और 1 कांस्य) जीत चुके थे। उन्होंने दो ओलंपिक खेलों (1968 मैक्सिको खेलों और 1972 म्यूनिख खेलों) में भी भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया। वह अर्जुन अवार्डी भी रहे। खेल के कारण ही प्रवीण कुमार को ‘सीमा सुरक्षा बल’ में डिप्टी कमांडेंट की नौकरी मिली थी।

Shekhar Kulbhushan Kapur (born 6 December 1945) is an Indian filmmaker.[1] Born into the Anand-Sahni family, Kapur is the recipient of several accolades, including a BAFTA Award, a National Film Award, a National Board of Review Award and three Filmfare Awards, in addition to nomination for a Golden Globe Award.
Kapur became known in Bollywood with his recurring role in the television series Khandaan. He then made his directorial debut with cult classic Masoom in 1983, before gaining widespread acclaim with Mr. India in 1987. He then gained international recognition and acclaim in 1994 with biographical film Bandit Queen, based on the infamous Indian bandit and politician Phoolan Devi, it was premiered in the directors fortnight section of the 1994 Cannes Film Festival and was screened at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
