Successful launch of ISRO’s GSLV-F17
The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched the GSLV-F17 rocket from Sriharikota early on 4th September, placing the much-awaited EOS-05 earth observation satellite into sub- geosynchronous orbit. ISRO said that the state-of-the art Earth observation spacecraft EOS-05 successfully placed into sub- geosynchronous orbit about 18 minutes after it lifted off from the spaceport. India’s space agency returned to the launch pad after a bruising phase marked by back to back failures of its trusted Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket.In such circumstances, the burden shifted to the GSLV Mk II, affectionately and sometimes nervously called ISRO’s “naughty boy.”

The success assumes even greater significance because it came at a time when questions were being asked about India’s launch capability. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle or PSLV, long considered ISRO’s workhorse, suffered consecutive failures, in 2025 and January of 2026. Those setbacks forced ISRO into a painstaking investigation process.

This time, the rocket performed as planned. The satellite began its journey toward geosynchronous orbit, nearly 36,000 kilometres above Earth. From that remarkable vantage point, EOS-05 is expected to provide something India has long lacked: continuous surveillance of a fixed region.The satellite is India’s first-ever imaging satellite designed to operate from a geosynchronous orbit. Unlike other low Earth orbit satellites that pass over a set location periodically, the EOS-05 satellite is designed to maintain a continuous monitoring of Indian territory and the surrounding regions .It would ensure a closer and consistent observation of the Indian territory and go a long way in providing critical information about weather systems, disasters, infrastructure monitoring and the general surveillance of the region.
GSLV-F17 रॉकेट ने EOS-05 को योजना से ज़्यादा ऑर्बिटल एनर्जी दी। पृथ्वी से इसकी सबसे ऊँची जगह उम्मीद से लगभग 2,092 किलोमीटर ज़्यादा है। यह सैटेलाइट के लिए अच्छी खबर है क्योंकि अब स्पेसक्राफ्ट को अपनी आखिरी जियोसिंक्रोनस ऑपरेटिंग ऑर्बिट तक पहुँचने के लिए अपने प्रोपल्शन सिस्टम का कम इस्तेमाल करना होगा। भूमध्य रेखा से लगभग 36,000 किलोमीटर की अपनी आखिरी जियोसिंक्रोनस ऊँचाई तक पहुँचने के लिए, EOS-05 अपनी ऑर्बिट को सब-GTO से ऊपर उठाने और उस ऊँचाई पर उसे गोलाकार बनाने के लिए अपने ऑनबोर्ड प्रोपल्शन का इस्तेमाल करेगा।
EOS-05 का लॉन्च खास तौर पर अहम था। इसने लगभग आठ महीने के अंतराल के बाद ISRO की वापसी को चिह्नित किया। दिलचस्प बात यह है कि यह सैटेलाइट स्पेस एजेंसी का 2026 का पहला सफल लॉन्च भी था।
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने जियोसिंक्रोनस ऑर्बिट से भारत के पहले इमेजिंग सैटेलाइट, EOS-05 को ले जाने वाले GSLV-F17 के सफल लॉन्च की तारीफ़ की है। एक सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट में, श्री मोदी ने सफल लॉन्च को भारत के स्पेस सेक्टर की पहचान बनने वाली उत्कृष्टता, इनोवेशन और बढ़ती क्षमताओं का प्रतिबिंब बताया। प्रधानमंत्री ने इसे ISRO की एक शानदार उपलब्धि और देश के लिए गर्व का क्षण भी बताया।
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has also commended the successful launch of GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05, India’s first-ever imaging satellite from Geosynchronous orbit. In a social media post, Mr Singh said that EOS-05 strengthens India’s Earth-observation capabilities and reflects the growing sophistication of its space programme. He added that the expanding partnership between ISRO and Indian industry is giving greater scale to innovation, strengthening indigenous capabilities and opening new frontiers for its space ambitions. The Defence minister further said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the country is steadily building a progressive, self-reliant and globally competitive space ecosystem.

Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host its inaugural International Film Festival, beginning tomorrow, marking a significant milestone in the Union Territory’s cultural and cinematic journey. More from Our Srinagar Correspondent:
The much-anticipated film festival is expected to bring together filmmakers, actors, producers, film enthusiasts, artists, and cinema professionals from across the country and abroad, providing a vibrant platform for the exchange of ideas, stories, and creative expressions. The four-day festival will be held simultaneously in Srinagar, Gulmarg and Jammu and will screen 135 films from over 40 countries under the theme ‘Rang-e-Cinema’. More than 300 delegates, a global jury and a prize purse of 96 lakh rupees are lined up for the festival. Organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, the festival aims to revive Jammu and Kashmir’s cinematic legacy, promote local talent and create opportunities for cultural exchange, collaboration and the growth of a sustainable film economy. The screenings will cover categories including International Competition, Cinema of the World, Bharat Panorama, J&K Select, Best Debut Film, Documentary and Short Films. Masterclasses, panel discussions, in-conversation sessions, round tables and workshops will also bring together filmmakers, actors, critics, scholars, students and industry professionals. Theatre reflects life, emotions and society, and Tripura has a rich tradition of this art. Carrying this legacy forward, young theatre practitioner Rupantar Majumdar of Sabujkali Institute, Agartala, has been honoured with a National Scholarship. His achievement also highlights the guidance of his guru, theatre teacher Sanjay Kar.
Theatre is often described as one of the finest forms of art. The emotions of life-joy, sorrow, love, pain and human relationships-all find a natural expression on stage. Through the language of art, theatre reflects people, society and the times we live in.
In Tripura too, theatre has a long and vibrant tradition. From the royal courtyards to becoming accessible to the common people, the journey of theatre in the state has passed through many important stages. And today, carrying forward that legacy, a new generation of theatre practitioners is looking for greater precision, structured training and a deeper understanding of the craft. With disciplined practice, guidance from experienced gurus and a strong commitment to the stage, young theatre artists are gradually making their presence felt. Around five years ago, young theatre worker Chandrasnata Kar received a national scholarship. And this year, another young theatre practitioner from Tripura has joined that distinguished journey. He is Rupantar Majumdar, a young theatre worker from Sabujkali Institute in Agartala. And behind this achievement stands another important name-his guru and theatre teacher, Sanjay Kar.
His interest in the stage began during childhood. Over the years, that early interest gradually turned into a journey of acting, regular theatre practice and learning the many dimensions of stagecraft. And throughout this journey, the guidance of his guru, Sanjay Kar, has played an important role. For a young artist, the right guidance can often make the difference between simply performing on stage and truly understanding the art. Rupantar’s journey with his guru is an example of that bond between a teacher and a young theatre practitioner.
This national recognition is certainly a personal achievement for Rupantar Majumdar. But its significance goes beyond one young artist. It sends a message to the young theatre community of Tripura-that with proper training, dedication, continuous practice and the right guidance, artists from the state’s theatre circuit can also find opportunities and recognition at the national level. Because theatre is not merely about acting, It is also a powerful medium of communication-with people, with society and with the times we live in. The long history of theatre in Tripura has travelled from one generation to another. And today, young artists like Rupantar Majumdar are adding new chapters to that continuing journey. Training, practice, guidance from a guru and the opportunity to express oneself on stage-all of these come together in shaping the artist of tomorrow. Rupantar Majumdar’s national scholarship is another bright chapter in Tripura’s theatre tradition. The road ahead is now wider-and perhaps more challenging, because a national recognition is never the end of a journey. It is the beginning of a new responsibility, a new dream and a new opportunity to learn. May his artistic journey become richer with every performance!….. The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Department of Global Investment and Overseas Affairs to strengthen the State’s engagement with Non-Resident Indians, foreign investors and global institutions. The department will function as a single-window mechanism to address the concerns and requirements of NRIs and facilitate investment, collaboration and partnership proposals. It will also coordinate with various government departments for faster action on proposals received from foreign investors and global delegations. The department will initially function under the supervision of the Chief Minister. More from our Correspondent
The new department is aimed at creating a more streamlined and responsive mechanism for NRIs, foreign investors and global institutions to engage with the Karnataka government. It will serve as a coordinating and facilitation platform for investment, collaboration and partnership proposals. Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said the initiative will help fast-track investment proposals and ensure that potential investors receive a timely response from the government, preventing them from taking their proposals to other states. A State Facilitation Council, headed by the Chief Minister, will coordinate such proposals with the departments concerned. The initiative will cover a wide range of sectors, including technology, healthcare, education, tourism, research and development, innovation, sports diplomacy and cultural exchange. अलाउद्दीन ख़ाँ (अंग्रेज़ी: Allauddin Khan, जन्म: सन 1881; मृत्यु: 6 सितम्बर, 1972) सरोद वादक थे और उन्होंने भारतीय संगीत के सबसे बड़े घरानों में से एक मैहर घराने की भी नींव रखी थी। अलाउद्दीन ख़ाँ को सन 1958 में पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था। उस्ताद अली अकबर ख़ाँ भारत में शास्त्रीय संगीत परंपरा के पितामह कहे जाने वाले बाबा अलाउद्दीन ख़ाँ साहेब के बेटे हैं, उन्हीं के संरक्षण में मैहर घराने की विरासत संभालते हुए अली अकबर ख़ान ने अपने पिता से संगीत सीखा। अलाउद्दीन ख़ाँ ने पंडित रविशंकर और अल्ला रक्खा ख़ाँ को भी शास्त्रीय संगीत सिखाया था। इन्होंने संगीत को देश के बाहर पूरी दुनिया में प्रचार-प्रसार करने का काम किया था।
उस्ताद अलाउद्दीन ख़ाँ दरबारी संगीतकार होने के बावजूद आमजनों में संगीत को लोकप्रिय बनाने का जतन करते रहते थे। उन्होंने कुछ लोगों को विविध वाद्ययंत्र बजाना सिखाना शुरू किया, इन वाद्ययंत्रों में कई तो उन्होंने ही बनाए थे।

मेजर धन सिंह थापा (अंग्रेज़ी: Dhan Singh Thapa, जन्म: 10 अप्रैल, 1928; मृत्यु: 6 सितम्बर, 2005) परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित नेपाली मूल के भारतीय थे। उन्हें यह सम्मान सन 1962 में मिला। 1962 के भारत-चीन युद्ध में जिन चार भारतीय बहादुरों को परमवीर चक्र प्रदान किया गया, उनमें से केवल एक वीर उस युद्ध को झेलकर जीवित रहा, उस वीर का नाम धन सिंह थापा था जो 1/8 गोरखा राइफल्स से, बतौर मेजर इस लड़ाई में शामिल हुआ था। धन सिंह थापा भले ही चीन की बर्बर सेना का सामना करने के बाद भी जीवित रहे, लेकिन युद्ध के बाद चीन के पास बन्दी के रूप में जो यातना उन्होंने झेली, उसकी स्मृति भर भी थरथरा देने वाली है। धन सिंह थापा इस युद्ध में पान गौंग त्सो (झील) के तट पर सिरी जाप मोर्चे पर तैनात थे, जहाँ उनके पराक्रम ने उन्हें परमवीर चक्र के सम्मान का अधिकारी बनाया।

Prem Nath Dar (25 July 1914 – 6 September 1976) was an Urdu-language short story writer from the Kashmir Valley. His short stories are generally recognised as progressive writings[ of the mid-20th century.
In the early 1940s, while in Delhi, he got in touch with Urdu literary circle Halqa-e Arbab-e Zauq, and started writing short stories in Urdu. The writers of Halqae Arbab Zauq used to meet at his house in Sita Ram Bazaar which was attended by some known writers of that time, including Devendra Satyarthi, Josh Malihabadi, Arsh Malciani Jagan Nath, Sagar Nizami, and Rewati Sharan Sharma. The venue later changed to Delhi College, Delhi. After the 1960s, his responsibilities at All India Radio kept him occupied, leaving less time for literary activities.

His films were known for their lavish sets, exotic locations, and emphasis on Indian traditions and family values.
