प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी आज वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से नशा मुक्त युवा – विकसित भारत संकल्प अभियान की शुरुआत करेंगे। नशे की लत के ख़िलाफ़ सौ सप्ताह तक चलने वाले इस अभियान में देश भर के 10 हज़ार से अधिक स्थानों से युवा भाग लेंगे। इस अभियान के अंतर्गत, प्रत्येक रविवार को नशा-उन्मूलन के लिए जागरूकता गतिविधियां चलाई जाएंगी। इनमें खेलकूद, वॉकथॉन, ध्यान सत्र, सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम, जागरूकता अभियान, नुक्कड़ नाटक, चर्चा मंच, कला प्रतियोगिताएं और सामुदायिक कार्यक्रम शामिल होंगे। इसका उद्देश्य युवाओं को नशे की लत से दूर रहने के लिए प्रेरित करना है।

In Peru, Thirteen people were killed after a tourist plane crashed into a field near the city of Nazca. According to a statement posted by Nazca’s municipal government on social media, the aircraft was carrying tourists on a sightseeing flight over the famed Nazca Lines, an ancient geoglyphs etched into the desert by Peru’s Indigenous inhabitants centuries ago. The municipal government said the aircraft, operated by Peruvian airline Aerodiana, had departed from the nearby city of Ica. Peruvian authorities said the cause of the accident is under investigation.

In Gujarat, the IMD has issued a Red Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across six districts today, including Morbi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad. The rain spell has now shifted towards Saurashtra, causing widespread waterlogging in several areas.
“Heavy rainfall continues to lash Gujarat as the monsoon spell shifted towards Saurashtra yesterday, bringing torrential downpours to several districts. Morbi recorded the highest eight and a half inches of rainfall, causing severe waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupting normal life. The intense spell has pushed 20 reservoirs to overflow, with 30 dams placed on high alert. The Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam, considered the lifeline of the state, has reached nearly 75 percent capacity, taking the state’s total seasonal average rainfall past 64 percent. In view of strong winds, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea for the next two days, and a local cautionary signal number 3 has been hoisted at all major ports across Gujarat. Researchers at the Central University of Tamilnadu have developed a rapid analytical technique to detect cow ghee adulteration and simultaneously identify and quantify multiple adulterants. The technique could offer a low cost tool to strengthen food quality checks. A spectrofluorometer exposes a diluted ghee sample to carefully selected wavelengths of ultraviolet and visible light. Naturally occurring compounds such as vitamins , chlorophyll and proteins then emit fluorescence from multiple angles. This creates a detailed three dimensional fingerprint of the sample’s chemical composition.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has appealed to citizens and Residents’ Welfare Associations to actively participate in the Bengaluru Green cover campaign through a mass movement. He issued directions to municipal corporation officials in Bengaluru to issue necessary directions before the campaign to be launched on August 15th. A large-scale tree plantation drive will be launched across the city on that day. It is planned to plant 60,000 saplings and distribute 40,000 saplings for which 236 applications were received from the residents seeking 43000 saplings.

Telangana Police have rescued 6,307 children in a month-long special drive called Operation Muskaan-12, aimed at ending child labour and child trafficking across the state. The operation ran from July 1st to 31st. After training on laws and procedures, teams raided places where child labour is common, including railway stations, bus stands, temples, brick kilns, mechanic shops, construction sites, and tea stalls. Of the children rescued, 5,892 were boys and 415 were girls. 3,447 belong to Telangana, while 2,860 are from other states and Nepal.

महाराष्ट्र सरकार जल्द ही एक व्यापक एम्बुलेंस पॉलिसी लाएगी ताकि इमरजेंसी मेडिकल ट्रांसपोर्ट को ज़्यादा कुशल और जवाबदेह बनाया जा सके। इसके तहत हर रजिस्टर्ड एम्बुलेंस की रियल-टाइम डिजिटल निगरानी की जाएगी। ट्रांसपोर्ट मिनिस्टर प्रताप सरनाइक ने कल बताया कि इस प्रस्तावित पॉलिसी का मकसद एम्बुलेंस से जुड़े पूरे सिस्टम को बेहतर बनाना है – जिसमें रजिस्ट्रेशन और डिस्पैच से लेकर रिस्पॉन्स टाइम, किराया तय करना और हॉस्पिटल इंटीग्रेशन तक सब कुछ शामिल है।

इस्कॉन ने कोलकाता नगर निगम क्षेत्र के 500 स्कूलों में 44 हजार छात्रों को मध्याह्न भोजन उपलब्ध कराना शुरू कर दिया है। मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने कल तारातला स्थित अन्नमृता फाउंडेशन की रसोई में इस पहल का उद्घाटन किया। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि इस्कॉन अगले तीन महीनों में 2,50,000 छात्रों को मध्याह्न भोजन उपलब्ध कराने के लिए अपने संचालन का विस्तार करेगा, जिससे पौष्टिक और संतुलित भोजन के साथ-साथ खाद्य सुरक्षा भी सुनिश्चित होगी। भोजन में चावल, खिचड़ी या पुलाव, पनीर या कॉटेज चीज़, सोयाबीन या मौसमी सब्जियां, साथ ही मिठाई या मौसमी फल शामिल होंगे।

स्तनपान के प्रति जन जागरूकता लाने के मक़सद से अगस्त माह के प्रथम सप्ताह को पूरे विश्व में स्तनपान सप्ताह के रूप में मनाया जाता है। स्तनपान सप्ताह के दौरान माँ के दूध के महत्त्व की जानकारी दी जाती है। नवजात शिशुओं के लिए माँ का दूध अमृत के समान है। माँ का दूध शिशुओं को कुपोषण व अतिसार जैसी बीमारियों से बचाता है। स्तनपान को बढ़ावा देकर शिशु मृत्यु दर में कमी लाई जा सकती है। शिशुओं को जन्म से छ: माह तक केवल माँ का दूध पिलाने के लिए महिलाओं को इस सप्ताह के दौरान विशेष रूप से प्रोत्साहित किया जाता है।

Pingali Venkayya (2 August 1876/8 – 4 July 1963) was an Indian freedom fighter, known for designing the initial version of the Indian National Flag. Apart from his role in the independence movement, Venkayya was a lecturer, author, geologist, educationalist, agriculturist, and a polyglot.
Venkayya joined the British Indian Army at age 19 and served in South Africa during the Second Boer War (1899-1902). During his service, he recognized the need for a national flag for India as Indian soldiers were required to salute the Union Jack, the British flag. Inspired by his experience and later by attending the 1906 AICC session in Calcutta, he developed a vision for a flag representing Indians, opposing the practice of hoisting the British flag at Congress meetings.Venkayya presented his design for an Indian national flag to Mahatma Gandhi in 1921 during Gandhi’s visit to Vijayawada. The flag initially consisted of red and green stripes representing Hindus and Muslims, respectively, and, on Gandhi’s suggestion, a white stripe was added to represent other communities in India. This flag design was used informally at Congress meetings from 1921 and served as the foundation for the Indian national flag, which was officially adopted in its final form by the Constituent Assembly on 22 July 1947.

Bellary Raghava (born Tadipatri Raghavacharyulu; 2 August 1880 – 16 April 1946) was an Indian playwright and actor, known for his works predominantly in Telugu theatre and cinema.
Notable theatre works Harischandra, Padukapattabhishekamu, Savitri, Brihannala, Ramaraju charitra, Ramadasu, Tappevaridi, Saripadani sangatulu, etc. were his noted dramas. He visited various countries like Sri Lanka, England, France, Germany and Switzerland and gave seminars and lectures on Indian drama art. He advocated and developed the naturalistic style in acting. He was very particular that women should always play female roles on the stage. In 1927 he went to England and took part in English dramas with Laurence Olivier and Charles Laughton. His presentation of Tappevaridi by Rajamannar in 1930 in Madras, has received critical reception as a momentous event heralding a new era in Telugu theatre.
