Umashankar Singh, Bahujan Samaj Party’s MLA in Uttar Pradesh passed away last night after a prolonged illness.
He was lone legislator in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly from Rasada constituency of Ballia district.
Singh was undergoing treatment for a brain tumour and died at a private hospital in Delhi.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed grief over the demise. In a social media post, the Minister said that Uma Shankar Singh was known and respected not only as a legislator but also as a sensitive social worker. Mr Singh said that Uma Shankar Singh believed in working above party politics and due to his humility and good conduct, he maintained good relations with all parties.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also condoled the MLA’s demise.
