The British Deputy High Commissioner, Alba Smeriglio, discussed various concerns of Punjabis residing in the United Kingdom, including the issues affecting their interests with Punjab’s NRI Affairs Minister Dr Ravjot Singh. Both Ms Smeriglio and Dr Ravjot Singh, during their meeting yesterday at Chandigarh, emphasised the need to further strengthen mutual communication and cooperation on matters concerning the Punjabi diaspora.

The Deputy High Commissioner also visited a village in Ludhiana to educate the youth about visa fraud and safe and legal mobility to the UK. Later, taking to her official social media account, she said she had a great opportunity to connect directly with people and listen to their experiences. She said access to accurate information is one of the best ways to protect people from visa fraud and unsafe migration routes.
