Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport deploys extra buses for NEET-UG examinees

In Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has issued notices under the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) to employees participating in the ongoing strike, as well as to bus supply contractors.

With the strike entering its second day, BEST has sought assistance from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and requested deployment of 100 buses to reduce inconvenience to commuters across Mumbai.

Separately, BEST has arranged 60 additional buses to help students appearing for the NEET-UG examination on Sunday. These services will operate to and from 63 examination centres in Mumbai during peak hours from 9 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 7 pm.

Meanwhile, the BEST Joint Workers’ Action Committee has expressed willingness to hold discussions to resolve the ongoing dispute.
