BRICS Summit Delivers Over 50 Concrete Outcomes Under India’s Chairship: MEA

The External Affairs Ministry today said, the BRICS Summit, which concluded in New Delhi today, produced a number of concrete and development-oriented outcomes.

Briefing the media in New Delhi this afternoon, Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry, Sudhakar Dalela, said more than 50 concrete outcomes had been achieved across various thematic tracks, describing this as a significant achievement of India’s BRICS Chairship.

He said BRICS has maintained a consistent position on the need for reform of the United Nations, and added that India would like to further strengthen its engagement with BRICS countries.

Mr. Dalela said the Summit also received reports from the BRICS Business Council and the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, bringing the perspectives of businesses, particularly women entrepreneurs, directly to the leaders.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the closing remarks at the conclusion of the open session and extended his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping as China takes over the BRICS Chairship for 2027. The Prime Minister also thanked all delegations and their teams for contributing to the success of the Summit.

Mr. Dalela said India’s BRICS Chairship also provided an opportunity to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and promote cultural exchanges among BRICS countries. He added that it created a valuable platform for civil society, including academia and think tanks, to contribute ideas and suggestions on the future direction of BRICS.

The Secretary said India’s priorities during its Chairship received strong support from BRICS member and partner countries. He highlighted that India also used the Chairship to take BRICS closer to its people, particularly the youth, with a strong focus on women’s participation through the dedicated Women’s Working Group and other cross-cutting initiatives.
