The Bharatiya Janata Party observed ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ in Chandigarh today to mark the violation of citizens’ rights and the subversion of democracy that occurred in 1975. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended a special event organised for this occasion as the chief guest and spoke about the dark days of the Emergency. He noted that the Emergency lasted for approximately 21 months, during which people were subjected to various forms of torture. He stated that this day is observed to educate the current generation about the history of that era.
