In Bihar, relief and rescue operations are continuing on a war footing in flood-hit areas, where more than 48 lakh people across 15 districts have been affected by the deluge.
1,251 community kitchens have served more than 88 lakh people so far. Thirteen relief camps are providing shelter, food and medical care to over 12,000 people. Disaster Management Minister Ratnesh Sada said each flood-affected family is being provided seven thousand rupees in assistance.
Around 3.68 lakh polythene sheets, 65,400 dry ration packets and 1,400 food packets have been distributed. 1,688 boats are operating in the affected areas. More than 12, 844 quintals of cattle feed have also been supplied.
Twenty-seven SDRF and 10 NDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
River levels are being closely monitored. The Ganga is receding at Sultanganj. The Kosi, Burhi Gandak, Ganga, Punpun, Bagmati and Ghaghra remain above the danger mark at several locations.
The Gandak at Valmikinagar Barrage is rising. The Kosi at Birpur Barrage remains stable, while the Son at Indrapuri Barrage is receding.
