The flood situation in Bihar is showing gradual improvement, although several areas continue to remain affected. More than two thousand villages across fourteen districts are affected. Relief and rescue operations are underway, while the administration is closely monitoring the situation.

 

Water levels in major rivers, including the Ganga, Son, Bagmati, Ghaghra and Punpun, continue to recede. However, the Ganga and Punpun are still flowing above the danger mark at several places.

 

According to the latest report, the Ganga is flowing above the danger mark at almost all monitoring stations in the state, including Gandhi Ghat in Patna. The Punpun is flowing more than one metre above the danger mark at Sripalpur in Patna. With the receding water levels, the risk of erosion has increased along the banks of the Ganga, Gandak, Kosi and Son rivers. The Water Resources Department has intensified surveillance of vulnerable embankments and erosion-prone locations.
