Bhavishya platform transforms pension processing for Central government employees

Over the past 12 years, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has been dedicated towards improving the Ease of Living for pensioners through continuous enhancements in Pension Rules and Procedures. In this journey, the Department introduced a unique, innovative centralized pension processing software called ‘Bhavishya’ for all central government Ministries and Departments.

It has helped to overcome the problems of delay and clerical errors in processing the pension cases, as well as financial loss and harassment of the pensioners. At present, 99 Ministries and Departments, covering over one thousand offices and 9,765 Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), have been onboarded on Bhavishya. As of the 19th of this month, over three lakh twenty-eight thousand Pension Payment Orders have been issued through the system.

Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has said that recognizing its effectiveness in digital governance, Bhavishya secured the 3rd rank in the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) 2021. The Department also released New Single Simplified Pension Application Form 6-A, which has been integrated with Bhavishya with a single e-Sign.

The Ministry added that to provide seamless post-retirement services, Bhavishya has been integrated with the Central Government Health Scheme, ensuring uninterrupted medical coverage for retiring employees from the very first day of retirement. The platform has also been integrated with 11 banks, covering approximately 92 per cent of pensioners.
