Eleven more children have died with suspected measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and suspected cases to 1,076 since March 15, according to the Directorate General of Health Services. The DGHS said 1,157 new suspected measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of suspected cases to 183,449 since March 15.
The number of confirmed measles cases increased by 113 to 20,851 during the same period. Since March 15, a total of 162,048 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 155,612 patients have recovered and been discharged. The DGHS said all 11 deaths reported in the past 24 hours were among suspected measles cases. No death from confirmed measles was reported during the period. Since March 15, 975 children have died from suspected measles, while 101 deaths have been confirmed as measles-related.
