In Badminton, India’s Unnati Hooda has made an early exit from the China Masters Super 750 tournament in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.
World No. 25 Hooda lost to South Korea’s World No. 12 Kim Ga-eun in straight games, 10-21, 18-21, in the opening round of the women’s singles.
Earlier, India’s Men’s Doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and M R Arjun retired at the first-game interval in their opening-round match. The Indian duo were trailing China’s Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi, 8-11 when they decided to concede the match.
The focus now shifts to the remaining Indian players. Several leading shuttlers will begin their campaigns tomorrow. Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Tanvi Sharma will be in action. Devika Sihag will also take the court. The top-seeded Men’s Doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will lead India’s challenge at the tournament.
