Badminton: Indian duo Krishna Prasad and Pruthvi move to 2nd round of Arctic Open Super 

 
In Badminton, Indian Men’s Doubles pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy advanced to the second round of the Arctic Open Super 500 tournament at Vantaa in Finland, today.
 
The Indian duo produced a stunning upset, defeating fifth seeds He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu of China 10-21, 21-18, 22-20 in a closely fought opening-round match.
 
However, in Men’s Singles, HS Prannoy suffered an early exit, losing 10-21, 9-21 to fourth-seeded Dane Anders Antonsen.
 
In Women’s Singles, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu advanced to the pre-quarterfinals after defeating Canada’s Wen Yu Zhang 21-8, 21-11.
 
Tanvi Sharma also progressed to the second round, beating Taiwan’s Chiu Pin Chian 21-15, 21-17. However, Isharani Baruah went down 10-21, 15-21 to top seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand.
 
Unnati Hooda, Ashmita Chaliha and Malvika Bansod also bowed out in the opening rounds. Unnati lost to China’s Han Qian Xi, while Ashmita was beaten by Denmark’s Line Christophersen in a tight three-game contest. Malvika went down to Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour in straight games.
