The Ayushman Bharat scheme will start in West Bengal from July, this year. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari today announced it in Kolkata after a virtual meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda. The existing beneficiaries under the state health scheme Swasthya Sathi will be incorporated into the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in connection with the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Mandir will be signed in June in New Delhi. Mr. Adhikari said, a proposal has been sent to the central government regarding increase of PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra in West Bengal to 469 from the existing 117. The Chief Minister also informed that 2103 crore rupees under National Health Mission and 976 crore rupees under Ayushman Bharat scheme have been allocated for West Bengal by the centre. 500 crore rupees have also been credited.
The Chief Minister also said, proposals for new Medical Colleges in Alipurduar, Kalimpong and South Dinajpur districts and a new AIIMS for the north Bengal have also been sent to the central government.
