Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Crosses Landmark Milestone of 90 Crore ABHAs

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA), has crossed the landmark milestone of 90 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) across the country.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the achievement marks a major step in India’s journey towards a connected, interoperable and citizen-centric digital health ecosystem.

The Ministry said that cumulative ABHA creation increased from over fourteen crore in the year 2021 to ninety crore this year. It added that the milestone has been driven by strong participation from States and Union Territories across the country.

Uttar Pradesh leads the nation with over fifteen crore ABHAs, followed by Rajasthan and Maharashtra with seven crore each. The Ministry said that the achievement also reflects growing participation of women in India’s digital health ecosystem, adding that female accounts constitute 49.75 per cent of total ABHA holders.

ABHA facilitates the digital linking of health records generated across different healthcare facilities and applications. It reduces the need to carry physical medical documents and enables secure sharing of health information with healthcare providers whenever required and with consent. The Ministry emphasised that this strengthens continuity of care while improving efficiency, transparency and convenience in healthcare delivery.
