Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav calls for Ayurveda Day to become a people’s movement

Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav today said that Ayurveda Day should become a people’s movement, with evidence-based information on Ayurveda reaching every household, school, college and workplace across the country.
 
Addressing the media in New Delhi, Mr Jadhav announced that the 11th Ayurveda Day will be observed on the 23rd of this month in Nagpur. The theme of this year’s event is “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”. He noted that Ayurveda Day is not merely an occasion to celebrate India’s rich heritage but also an opportunity to connect it with the health needs and possibilities of the future.
 
Mr Jadhav underlined that Ayurveda Day serves as a platform to carry forward India’s ancient knowledge system while aligning it with the future of global healthcare. The Minister highlighted that the world is increasingly looking towards preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, nutrition, wellness and holistic healthcare. He added that India has a rich tradition and vast experience in all these areas, making Ayurveda highly relevant in addressing contemporary health challenges.
 
During the occasion, Mr Jadhav also outlined three key focus areas for this year’s campaign. These are Integrative Healthcare for Better Health Outcomes; Evidence, Research and Innovation in Ayurveda; and Ayurveda for Community Well-being and Sustainable Living.
 
The Minister further said that the government aims to promote a healthcare system that leverages the strengths of different systems of medicine, while advancing research and innovation to enhance the global acceptance of Ayurveda. He also called for nationwide participation in the campaign on 11th November 2026, saying that Ayurveda should become a key pillar in building a healthier India and a healthier future.
