Australia India Business Council highlights growing momentum of ‘Make with India’ initiative

Mr Vish Vishwanathan from the Australia-India Business Council highlighted the growing impact of the “Make with India” initiative. This industry chapter actively translates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” vision into reality on Australian soil by fostering strategic corporate partnerships.

Mr. Vishwanathan emphasised that this collaboration extends far beyond traditional trade, focusing on critical emerging sectors. Australian companies are being actively encouraged to partner with India in advanced manufacturing, clean energy, defence, and agribusiness. A particularly encouraging aspect of this bilateral relationship is the strong bipartisan political support it enjoys in Australia, ensuring continuity and growth regardless of political shifts.

Central to this strengthening bridge is the more than one million-strong Indian diaspora. Describing them as a highly skilled and enthusiastic community, Mr. Vishwanathan, who has lived in Australia for over thirty-seven years while remaining a proud Indian passport holder, noted that the diaspora is uniquely positioned to drive this partnership forward, opening new chapters of mutual global growth.
