To commemorate the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) organised a commemorative bike rally in Kohima to pay tribute to the indomitable courage, supreme sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of the soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War. The rally was dedicated to Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) (Posthumous), Nagaland’s gallant son, whose valour continues to inspire generations.

 

Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav flagged off the rally from the Assam Rifles Garrison Helipad in Kohima. On the occasion, he felicitated the parents of Captain Kenguruse in recognition of their son’s extraordinary sacrifice and service to the nation. The event was attended by Inspector General, Assam Rifles (North), Major General Harinder Singh Mavi.

 

The rally witnessed the participation of ex-servicemen, members of the Kohima Mods Motorcycle Club, Royal Sons Nagaland, and members of civil society.

 

The rally concluded at the Captain N. Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous) Memorial at Nerhema in Kohima district, where the participants were were flagged in by the parents of Captain Kenguruse. A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the memorial, with serving personnel, veterans, local dignitaries, and participants paying homage to Nagaland’s gallant son.

 

Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse displayed exceptional courage during the Kargil War and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, the country’s second-highest gallantry award, for his conspicuous bravery and supreme sacrifice.
