A joint team of Assam Rifles, Indian Army and Manipur Police conducted a search operation at the foothills of Wakan Hill Range in Imphal East district today and recovered an abandoned cache of weapons and war-like stores.

According to PRO of IG Assam Rifles (South), the recovered items includes one SLR, one country made AK 47, one country made MP 5, four country made carbines, two 9mm pistols, four country made 12 bore single barrel guns, 25 ammunition rounds, two grenades, four mortar shells, three radio chargers, an SLR bayonet, a flare round, helmet, jacket and boots.

It further said that Assam Rifles in joint coordination with Indian Army and Manipur Police apprehended an arms smuggler and recovered a substantial amount yesterday which led to the recovery of weapons and war like stores.
