Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma today met Union Power Minister Manohar Lal in New Delhi to discuss on important energy and urban development matters related to the state. During the meeting, meaningful deliberations took place on Assam’s long term electricity requirements, making the power allocation received from central power generation centers more rational.

They also discussed on electricity distribution system in Guwahati through underground cabling, and issues related to the better utilisation of natural gas and its pricing for gas-based power generation. Alongside this, consultations were also held on the proposal submitted by the Assam government under the Urban Challenge Fund.
