The BJP today announced Debasish Sharma as its candidate for the by-election to the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat in Assam. His candidature was approved by the party’s Central Election Committee. The notification for the Lok Sabha by-election was issued last week. Candidates can file their nominations until the 16th of this month. Polling will be held on 6th October, while counting of votes will take place on 9th October.

 

Besides the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, five Assembly seats will also go to polls on 6th October. These are Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu, Rejinagar and Nandigram in West Bengal, and Thattanchavady in Puducherry.
