Indian lifters continued their impressive performance at the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, today, with a gold and a silver medal in the men’s junior 60-kilogram category. Tomchou Meetei won a total of three medals – gold in the overall category, bronze in the snatch and silver in the clean and jerk.
He finished with a combined lift of 266 kilograms. Gurunaidu Sanapathi bagged two medals – silver in the overall category and silver in the snatch, along with bronze in the clean and jerk. He finished with a total lift of 265 kilograms. The two Indian lifters finished just one kilogram apart in the overall standings, giving India a one-two finish in the category.
