President Droupadi Murmu has congratulated Parveen Hooda on winning the Gold Medal in the Women’s 65kg Boxing event at the Asian Games 2026. In a social media post, she noted that Ms Parveen fought her way to the top with skill, courage and conviction. President Murmu said that daughters like Ms Parveen make India feel so proud when the tricolour flutters high, and the national anthem is played in an international competition. She said that this Gold Medal is going to inspire countless youth, especially the girls.

 

President Murmu also extended her wishes to the Indian Men’s Quadrant Team on winning the Bronze Medal in Sepaktakraw at the Games. She said that the team’s agility, coordination and fighting spirit have brought this success to India.

 

The President has congratulated Ankush Panghal on clinching the Gold Medal in the Men’s 80kg Boxing event at the Asian Games. President Murmu noted that Mr Panghal delivered an exceptional performance in the ring, displaying composure, power and unwavering determination. She said this triumph is a moment of immense pride for Indian boxing and a memorable achievement for the nation.

 

The President also congratulated Sujeet Kalkal on winning the Gold Medal in the Men’s 65kg Freestyle wrestling event at the Asian Games 2026. She said that Sujeet held his nerve when it mattered the most and turned the final into a memorable triumph on the mat. The President noted that Sujeet Kalkal has brought immense pride to the nation. President Murmu wished that this golden performance be remembered as a defining moment in Sujeet’s sporting journey and that his victory inspire young athletes to excel.
