In the Asian Games, 2026 Indian runners have clinched silver in the mixed 4x400m relay race at Nagoya today. The quartet of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Manu TS timed the run at 3 mins 14.46 seconds to defend India’s silver medal won in the last edition of the games in Hangzhou. Bahrain won the gold with Games record of 3 mins 12.87 seconds.
Before that, Seema Kumari won bronze in the 10,000 metre race after finishing at third spot in 32.50 mins. The achievement marks India’s first medal in the women’s 10,000m event at the Asian Games in 16 years.
Earlier, in Shooting, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal also bagged bronze in the mixed skeet team event, the first-ever medal for India in this category. The Indian pair missed just four of 48 shots and finished level with South Korea, but lost to South Korea in the tie-breaker. China won Gold.
In Boxing, Parveen made it to the quarterfinals of the Women’s 65kg category after receiving a walkover from Tajikistan’s Malika Nozimova in the round of 16 at Nishio. She will now face reigning world silver medallist Navbakhor Khamidova of Uzbekistan.
In the morning, Indian wushu player Roshibina Devi Naorem won Silver in the Women’s 60kg Sanda event after losing 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final. It was third Asian Games medal for Roshibina, after Silver 2023 Hangzhou Games and Bronze in 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games. In Men’s double sculls rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze.
However, Commonwealth Games champion Sakshi Chaudhary bowed out of the Games after her loss in the Women’s 51 kg pre-quarters to reigning World Champion Alua Balkibekova.
