India won three medals in shooting at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, today.
In the men’s 10-meter air rifle individual event, Himanshu Dhillon won the silver medal, while Rudrankksh Patil secured the bronze. India also bagged a silver medal in the men’s team event of the same competition.
Yesterday, Elavenil Valarivan won the silver medal in the women’s individual 10-metre air rifle event. India also bagged a silver medal in the women’s team event of the same competition. With this, India has won a total of five medals in Shooting so far, including four silver and one bronze.
Suchika Tariyal has become the first athlete from the country to win a medal in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Suchika secured the bronze medal in the 60 kg category.
In the medal tally, India is currently in 12th place with a total of six medals, including four silver and two bronze.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Himanshu Dhillon, and Parth Rakesh Mane on winning the silver medal in the Men’s 10 meter Air Rifle Team event at the Asian Games. In a social media post, Mr. Modi commended the trio, stating that their focus, consistency, and exceptional teamwork have made the entire nation proud.
In addition to the team success, the Prime Minister lauded the athletes for their individual achievements in the Men’s 10 meter Air Rifle event. Congratulating Himanshu Dhillon on winning the silver medal, Mr Modi praised his composure and remarkable accuracy under pressure, noting that his performance was a source of national pride.
Extending his congratulations to Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil for securing the bronze medal, Mr Modi appreciated his focus and discipline throughout the competition, wishing him continued success in all his future endeavors.
