Most Asian stock markets ended on a mixed note today. China’s Shanghai Composite surged 2.2 per cent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 1.7 per cent and South Korea’s Kospi gained over 0.6 per cent. In contrast, Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 1.4 per cent, Taiwan’s Taiex fell over 0.8 per cent and Singapore’s Strait Times index dipped marginally.
In European markets, Germany’s DAX rose 1.5 per cent, and London’s FTSE 100 gained over 1.1 per cent, when reports last came in.
