Arunachal Pradesh is witnessing a rise in conjunctivitis cases in some parts of the state. Owing to the outbreak, the Itanagar Capital District administration has ordered to close all the government and private schools in the Capital city for 5 days, starting from on 25th July 2023. The measure has been taken in order to break the chain of transmission of the disease.
Similarly, there are also reports of Conjunctivitis outbreaks at some part of the Longding district. The district administration has ordered all the Educational institutions under Kanubari and Lawnu Educational blocks to remain closed till the 29th of this month.
Conjunctivitis is a highly contagious eye infection caused by viruses or bacteria. Common symptoms include redness, itching, excessive tearing, and a gritty feeling in the eye. It can spread easily through direct or indirect contact with an infected person's eye secretions, contaminated objects, or respiratory droplets.
