Armed Forces Headquarter services are institutional memory of Ministry of Defence: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that Armed Forces Headquarter (AFHQ) services are the institutional memory of the Ministry of Defence. Speaking at the AFHQ Civilian Services Day in New Delhi, Mr Singh said that the AFHQ cadre is an institution that provides the Ministry of Defence with continuity, domain expertise, and policy stability. The Defence Minister said that, AFHQ also plays the role of an important bridge in strengthening civil-military synergy.

The Minister urged the AFHQ cadre to go beyond their mandate and role. He further urged them to contribute to strengthening the country’s defence ecosystem through defence technology research, geo-strategic thinking, and new ideas. Mr Singh stressed that for any army, strength does not come merely from weapons and ammunition, but also from those thousands of invisible hands that always stand behind it in its support. He said that AFHQ Civilian Services is one of those invisible yet decisive forces.

The Minister underlined that the collaboration of armed forces with Technology, Industry, Academia, and Innovation Ecosystem is also continuously increasing. He also stressed on the evolution of the country’s permanent civilian defence and its development of new capabilities. Mr Singh noted that occasions like AFHQ Civilian Services Day are important platforms for deliberations that shape the direction of the future.
