Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy today inaugurated the power room of the Simhapuri e-bus depot in Visakhapatnam being developed under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. He said the State Government is promoting electric mobility on the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The Minister said Visakhapatnam has been allotted 100 electric buses out of the first phase of 750 buses sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh. He said supporting infrastructure, including the power room, substation and charging station, is being completed and the buses are expected to be introduced within the next two to three months.
Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said electric buses will also be introduced in Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajahmundry and Guntur to improve public transport services. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing an environment-friendly and modern public transport system. The Minister also clarified that APSRTC will not be privatised as long as the present NDA government remains in office.
