Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that permanent yoga centres will be established in Swarna Gram and Swarna Ward offices across the state to promote yoga and public health. He said the government aims to take yoga to every household and build a healthier society.
The Chief Minister made the announcement while participating in International Yoga Day celebrations held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijaywada today. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev led the yoga session, which was attended by Chandrababu Naidu, Ministers, students, officials and members of the public.
The Chief Minister performed pranayama and several yoga postures with ease. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for securing global recognition for yoga and noted that International Yoga Day is now being observed in 190 countries. He said yoga improves both physical and mental fitness and credited Baba Ramdev for popularising yoga among the masses.
The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh would continue to strengthen its yoga movement after setting records during Yogandhra-2025 in Visakhapatnam. He announced that the next International Yoga Day celebrations under Yogandhra-2027 will be held in Tirupati.
He also unveiled plans for a dedicated yoga portal, expert-designed yoga protocols, and district- and mandal-level monitoring systems. Mr. Naidu urged people to avoid junk food, adopt natural farming-based diets and practise yoga, meditation and pranayama daily.
The Chief Minister further announced that the state-wide Sanjeevani health initiative will be launched on August 15 and will integrate yoga into preventive healthcare services. He said combining technology with spirituality would create a healthier and happier Andhra Pradesh.
