Andhra Pradesh Minister Kollu Ravindra has welcomed a proposal to establish a major shipyard in Machilipatnam at an investment of eight thousand crore rupees. In a social media post, the Minister said Goa Shipyard Limited, a Central Government undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has come forward with the proposal. He said the shipyard would boost maritime activities in Machilipatnam and give fresh impetus to the region’s development. Mr. Ravindra termed the proposal an important step towards strengthening India’s maritime capabilities.
