Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the State government aims to involve one crore people in the Yoga Andhra 2026 campaign, which will be conducted across Andhra Pradesh from June 7 to June 20 as part of the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations.
Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat in Amaravati today, the Chief Minister said yoga should become a daily practice in every household and evolve into a mass movement for building a healthier Andhra Pradesh. He announced that a major yoga event would be organised in Amaravati on the Krishna River West Bypass Bridge, with around 25,000 participants expected to take part.
Describing yoga as India’s invaluable gift to the world, Mr. Naidu said it remains one of the most effective tools for addressing stress, anxiety and lifestyle-related health disorders. He emphasized that the government is working to integrate yoga into educational institutions to instill healthy habits among children from an early age.
The Chief Minister said the initiative aligns with the State’s Swarna Andhra 2047 vision and aims to improve public health through preventive healthcare practices. He noted that special district-wise programmes would be organised to encourage participation from various sections of society, including farmers, police personnel, women, youth and students.
To support the campaign, the government has allocated ten crore rupees and launched the Yoga Andhra portal, which will provide registrations, programme schedules, instructional videos and other resources related to the initiative.
