Andhra Pradesh: Five fishermen die after drowning in Godavari River

 
In Andhra Pradesh, five fishermen lost their lives after drowning in the Godavari River near Gollagudem village of Polavaram district today. The victims had gone to the river for fishing when they were reportedly swept away by the strong current. 
 
Police, along with local rescue teams and villagers, launched a search operation after receiving information about the incident. The bodies of all five victims were recovered from the river. Officials said the deceased belonged to the same village, and three of them were women. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances.
 
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound grief over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He directed officials to extend all possible assistance to the affected families. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and prayed for strength to the bereaved families to overcome the tragedy.
