Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today launched 58 modern fire-fighting vehicles costing around Rs 40 crore to strengthen the state’s fire and emergency services.
The vehicles were procured with funds from the 15th Finance Commission. They include 25 advanced fire-fighting vehicles for quick response in rural and forest areas, 20 water bowsers and 13 Quick Response Multi-Purpose Fire-Fighting vehicles.
The water bowsers, each with a capacity of 14,000 litres, will help ensure a continuous water supply during major fire accidents, particularly in urban and industrial areas. The quick-response vehicles are designed to reach narrow and congested areas quickly.
The Chief Minister said, the state is procuring modern fire-fighting vehicles and equipment in phases at a total cost of over Rs 252 crore with Central and State government funds. He said, 65 vehicles were already made available in the first phase at a cost of 33 crore rupees.
He also said, 17 new fire station buildings are being constructed and 36 existing stations are being modernised across the state. Home Minister Anitha and senior Fire Services officials attended the programme.
